For this program artists will share their ideas, processes, and inspirations through short talks, an installation activation, and audio and haptic performances. This program is free and open to all. So much has happened in a year! So many thoughts, progressions, ways of being evolved and changed. I feel changed. I am. I’m different in so many ways by the challenges, questions, edifications, support, and intrigue. The deep desire from everyone who participated in this cohort to grow and push their own and each other’s practices. By showing up, being present and giving of their time and attention we moved forward together. A special thanks to our incredible leadership team @thecenterprogram - program curator, Teresa Silva @eso_no_me_interesa , our program coordinator Aidan Frierson @skinlessdogg , and the HPAC’s director Mike Nourse @mike.nourse for their tireless support and guidance. And to all of the visiting artists, curators, gallerists, thinkers, and contributors who shared space with us during our time together. You are invited to the opening of a solo exhibition by CP11 artist Carlos Salazar-Lermont! Fixing the Baroque is curated by Inés Arango-Guingue, and opens this Friday, November 7, at 7 p.m. at ACRE Projects (2921 N Clark St, Chicago). The show will be on view through January 4, 2026. In this exhibition, Carlos brought together photography, video, and installation to reflect on immigration and belonging — themes that feel especially urgent right now in Chicago and across the U.S. With Fixing the Baroque, Carlos connects Latin American visual traditions with contemporary experiences of displacement and resilience.
