We concluded our unforgettable 3 days outreach at Bechem School for the Deaf and Blind with an incredible Entertainment Night! 🤩 The students truly shone, presenting everything they learned—from dance to drama—and showing off their own unique talents in a Freestyle Talent showcase. Highlights included the powerful “Silent Voices” stage play directed by Habi Slay @habislay delving into Conflict Resolution in schools, and “Deaf Can Dance” by Allopa @deafdancersgh where students performed the choreographies learned and grooved to the latest viral hits. We ended with a freestyle session that celebrated Self-Expression. 💃🏽😃 This pilot project was just the beginning. We’re excited to continue building with the school administration to bring more impactful initiatives to the students. We faced electricity and network issues these past days, but still did our thing 🤩💃🏽 Day Two of our outreach at Bechem School for the Deaf and Blind was even more impactful than we had anticipated! We could really see that the students paid full attention to the sessions held by our facilitators 🤩 Started the day with @habislay Experiential Theater session, where interactive activities helped students boost confidence, creativity, and skills. Later, Allopa @deafdancersgh led a heartfelt dance session which was a follow up from the previous day, inspiring students to use movement as a form of self-expression. The DANCING ACROSS BORDERS Project offered an electrifying cultural exchange, where Pearse Olufemi @pearsedancecompany shared a unique occupational and recreational dance from 'Isale Eko,' Lagos Island, with the Ghana Dance Ensemble. This enriching experience explored Lagos' deep-rooted cultural heritage, from ritual rites to sculptural work and weaving, highlighting the diverse artistic traditions of Lagos State. Directed by Nigerian choreographer and researcher Pearse Olufemi Tolulope @pearse_olufemi , the project addresses key challenges like Border Crime and Trafficking in West Africa, using dance, poetry, and song as powerful tools of expression. Through this artistic exchange, we aim to foster peaceful coexistence, cultural tolerance, and unity across Africa. This initiative, organized by Pearse Dance Company (Nigeria), The CELL Concept (Ghana), and Dr. Aristides Nene Narh Hargoe of the Ghana Dance Ensemble celebrates the power of art to break boundaries and unify communities.
