PROGRESS: The Joint Committee on Children, Families and Persons with Disabilities favorably reported our livable wage bill – An act relative to a livable wage for human service workers. This means we are one step closer to achieving a livable wage for the hundreds of the thousands of humans services workers across the Commonwealth! Today, Open Sky proudly joined the Caring Force Rally at the Massachusetts State House! Our team had the opportunity to connect directly with legislators and advocate for the essential work of human services professionals across the Commonwealth. We’re grateful to stand alongside passionate advocates working to ensure that those who support our communities receive the recognition, resources, and support they deserve. Thank you to @TheCaringForce for bringing voices together and amplifying the importance of human services. Together, we’re making an impact! #CaringForce #HumanServices #Advocacy #CaringForceRally

The Caring Force is a grassroots movement of the @providers_council with more than 10,000 members statewide, representing over 160,000 human service employees in the Care Economy working in every corner of the Commonwealth. Members of the Provider’s Council include shelters, mental and behavioral healthcare providers, residential and day programs for people with disabilities, advocates, etc. This workforce is critical to our economy, as proven during the pandemic when these positions were deemed essential and required to continue showing up to their workplaces to continue providing care. This workforce has also been historically undervalued and underpaid. Today at the State House, the Caring force showed up to rally for increased wages for employees and investment in our providers. Receiving the Caring Bear Award represents a commitment to stand shoulder to shoulder with these employees and continue to invest in this workforce and our providers.

Community Connections was proud to stand with our partners, Better Community Living, Justice Resource Institute, Kennedy-Donovan Center, LifeStream, People, Inc., and Seven Hills Foundation at the first-ever @thecaringforce South Coast Rally on May 1 in Westport 💙 Along with The Providers Council, we came together with more than 300 people, including over 60 advocates from Community Connections, to advocate for our human service workforce. We were grateful for Representative Carole Fiola of the 6th Bristol district who delivered the keynote speech. It was an inspiring turnout, and we’re proud to be part of this collective voice for stronger services, stronger communities, and greater opportunity for our staff who give their all every day.
