Greetings Passengers,
It is I, your Captain Debbie ✨
It’s been a minute, and I am since in a new season of life, so I figured I should do a bit of a reintroduction! 📣
Most of you have followed me because of my work with the band
@film_and_gender . I am proud to say that I have lead the design for 2 of their cover arts: T4T and I Wish I Never Made You C*M. These are some of my proudest accomplishments as an artist! I am also responsible for the publication of the Film & Gender Zine, which has been on a long hiatus for a year+ but I have plans to awaken it. You could have also discovered me for my photography documenting the New England DIY/Punk scene. (Oh, and one of my F&G patches may be on your jacket😉)
While I thoroughly enjoy my involvement with the bands, my main passion is my physical artwork. For as long as I can remember, I have lived and breathed art. Only in recent years have I taken on a new seriousness with my paintings, drawings, and other physical works. I have been absolutely blessed to be apart of numerous art markets and DIY vending events.
My art is inspired by the abstract themes of high fantasy, magic, grief, history, and religion/spirituality. I am a big history nerd at heart, and it really shines through in my work. My PFP is none other than Venus of Willendorf - one of the first known depictions of the Devine Feminine. The Mother. Originating ≈ 30,000 years ago.
I liken anyone that has purchased one of my works to the patron families of the renaissance, such as the Medici of Florence. You truly keep me going, inspirationally and financially. 🙌
Fun Fact: Captain Debbie is a pseudonym combined from my idol, Blondie’s Debbie Harry, and the Billy Joel song, Captain Jack.
Thank you all for your continued support. I am so grateful to have this little audience, in this strange time and place, in this little corner of the internet.
Love you 😘
