BRTW is back in person with Melanated Monday Live: Media Literacy It’s dangerous to be marginalized on the internet. While online media can be instrumental for education and solidarity, it’s increasingly used to manipulate viewers with misinformation and disinformation, and the effects can be disastrous. According to a 2024 survey from Boston University’s College of Communication: “Nearly three of four Americans (72%) surveyed say skills in media literacy are important in the face of intentionally misleading or inaccurate information in the media.” But what does media literacy mean? And how can you identify and debunk misinformation?  Join BRTW as we explore media literacy through live theatrical readings paired with IRL activism at the Bechdel Project.* We’ll be live and in person March 16th from 7-9pm, at  252 Green St #3, Brooklyn NY 11222 As Always, Melanated Monday is Free-ninety nine but donations are always encouraged! *This MM Live was made possible by Bechdel Project’s community space grant.
