I was blessed to be able to create a wide range of props for @guardiansofthegalaxy vol.3. This is one of the many guns I came up with. This rifle was created for the Orgo Guards on Orgo. I worked closely with @marvelprops to finalize this design. The direction I was given was “bone and surgical metal as the base and organic matter that converts to ammo”. I did close to seven versions and we fine tuned it to the one you see here and on screen. Once approved I prepared it for fabrication. While working on Ironheart, I was tasked with designing the magic glasses for Zelma. With direction from Russell Bobbitt I modeled several different versions of the glasses along with the lenses that pop out. I wanted the lenses to feel like they came from Kamar-Taj. The first set of glasses I did had magic runes on them which I thought was a nice little touch. One note that stuck was to position the lenses like spider legs so we carried that theme throughout the iterations. I’m grateful for the opportunity to work on this prop and many others throughout the show.
On a personal note… I’ve had to come to terms with the possibility that I may never work in the film industry again. Accepting that hasn’t been easy. Even though it wasn’t something I ever expected to be part of, I found so much fulfillment and joy in doing this work. Some days it’s harder to shake off than others, but I’m trying to move forward.
