If you could give one rule for young breakers to live by, what would it be? . Abstrak gave us a little bit more than just one rule. My biggest take from this: - Express freely. - Know your body well. - Don't stop having fun. - Absorb what is good, and throw out the rest. . What rule would you give to the young breakers? πŸ€” . If crews act like gangs, it could mean War. If we look at the Unity principle, it's totally opposite. . . . . #thebreakologist #breaking #bboyabstrak #hiphop #Unity

Breaking form and adding different elements. . Breaking is known for having elements from different styles, practices, cultures. . Many might say that breaking was built on fusion. African dance, latin dance, martial arts, capoeira etc. While this can help with improving your arsenal or originality, Abstrak says that when you break form or add different elements you have to make it look like breaking. Give it the Breaking essence or it's not breaking. πŸ§ͺπŸ”¬βš—οΈ . Let me know your thoughts πŸ‘‡πŸΌπŸ‘‡πŸΌπŸ‘‡πŸΌ . . #thebreakologist #bboyabstrak #interview #hiphop #breaking

Authenticity: how do you express yourself within the template of the breaking fundamentals. . The emphasis falls on "expressing yourself", AFTER you learn the fundamentals. . The foundation is not there to restrict you. It's what allows you to explore further, with control, clarity, and intention. . @abstrumental @foundationalmethodz . . . #thebreakologist #bboyabstrak #interview #breaking

Respecting the culture can mean different things to different people. But at its core, it starts with acknowledging those who came before us and paved the way. . Respecting the culture isn't just about looking back, it's also about how you carry yourself today. Being authentic, putting in the work, and adding something real… not just taking from it. . What are other ways we can show respect to the culture? πŸ€” Leave a comment down below with what you think it means to respect the culture. πŸ‘‡πŸΌπŸ‘‡πŸΌπŸ‘‡πŸΌ @abstrumental @abstrak.verse @foundationalmethodz . . . #thebreakologist #bboyabstrak #interview #hiphop

After 14 years of teaching at Princeton University, @therealraphaelxavier shares some of the concepts he uses in his classes. Different types of music, disecting the moves, and exploring present styles. Thank you for sharing your knowledge! 🧠 πŸ™πŸΌπŸ“š . Princeton University is a private Ivy League research university in Princeton, New Jersey, founded in 1746 as the College of New Jersey, making it the fourth-oldest institution of higher education in the U.S. Known for high academic standards, it offers undergraduate and graduate programs, guarantees housing for all four undergraduate years, and provides generous financial aid, often through grants instead of loans. The university is highly selective and combines a liberal arts college feel with a major research institution's resources, with a strong focus on undergraduate teaching by leading scholars. . . #thebreakologist #raphaelxavier #princetonuniversity #breakingclasses #hiphopclasses

One of the founding members of Skill Methodz Crew, Richie "Abstrak" Soto has been exposed to dancing since the early 1980s. Inspired early on by Michael Jackson, Abstrak began combining different movements he learned as a kid. Over time, this approach evolved into a unique style that has influenced dancers around the world. Now actively sharing knowledge through his @foundationalmethodz platform, Abstrak took the time to answer questions about his crew, the culture, breaking form, and other subjects related to his journey and philosophy. Full interview coming soon on YouTube πŸ“Ί . . . . #thebreakologist #Hiphop #bboyabstrak #skillmethodz

Honoring Black History Month and the communities that created and shaped the culture we move in. . Breaking and hip hop exist because of Black creativity, resistance, and community. As movers and culture carriers, it’s important to honor the roots, respect the pioneers, and continue learning where this culture comes from. . #thebreakologist #hiphop #blackhistorymonth #blackhistoryisamericanhistory

"Do you think there's a missing link between the generations?" This was the initial question. While the younger generations might complain about the OGs, and OGs might also complain about the younger generation. . Raph turned the discussion into a different direction and presented his point of view about the mistakes done internally. . What are your thoughts about this?
