When I meet new couples, I introduce myself as both a technical and emotional photographer. I care deeply about making sure your vision translates beautifully in photos, which means getting a little creative (and proactive) with the environment.
When
@laoliviasf and I were discussing details close to the wedding, we talked about how much our bride loved the pastel florals that Olivia is known for. I knew we had to make sure they would shine in photos.
When I got to the wedding the first thing I requested of the venue team (shoutout to
@beacongrand ) was to turn off the overhead lights and see how the room would look with the window light.
It was a beautiful sunny day in San Francisco, and we got lucky with beautiful natural light. The pastels popped, the interior details looked gorgeous, and the whole room felt romantic.
And as wedding goes on into the night, I adjust the lighting depending on the energy in the room. For a buzzing cocktail hour, I’ll pop on some direct flash and get fun shots of the guests. As we move into reception, I’ll set up light stands so I can be out of everyone’s way while still getting great light in the pictures.
Lighting is truly everything - and I read the room to figure out the kind of light we need to describe the mood.
Shoutout to this amazing vendor team!
