This customer requested a cookie inspired by the centuries-old miniature art painting style, which often depicted symbolic scenes of history, literature, and society.
I've always found this style enchanting, so I took my time researching the perfect design. I knew I wanted an outdoor scene, and the customer liked multiple levels, so I came up with a composition befitting the two.
At the foreground we have the classic romantic couple relaxing by a river, next to their regal steed. Above, musicians play instruments while a dancer entertains them by a pavilion.
The scene is complete with a pomegranate tree rising behind them all, and geometric rocks in vivid colours dividing the two halves.
In 2025, UNESCO actually registered the Behzad style of miniature art as part of Afghanistan's cultural heritage, and today, the practice is still alive and thriving all across the country.
