So happy to finally be in the WORLD OF SALMON. We have been working with @tobecallsmefat and @tobenwigwe for the longest on this project. It’s always amazing to hear it in the real world.
When we know we’re starting on a project, we LOVE to test drive different microphones and gear on artists to zero in on the exact path to suit their specific voice and delivery. On previous verses, when featuring on Tobe’s records, Fat would step up to whatever mic we had up for Tob. Typically a C800, Neve combo. When we got confirmation Fat had her own project on the way, we bust open the mic locker to customize for her voice and performance. We tried 87s, SM7s, the gigantic Blue Bottle with different caps, even a 121….cuz why not??? But in the end, you know the handcrafted Wunder Audio 251 won. @dordorothyc also tried different preamps, picking the SSL over Neve. When you know she’s a queen, she gets royal treatment - any mic you want.

We had an amazing time at Winter NAMM.
The Barron team got to hang with @kizzowhatitfeellike and talk all things music.
We took an expertly guided tour of Chaplin Studios, where Barron alum @felixdbyrne works (dude is up for AOTY for SWAG👏👏👏).
Then we got to kick with another Barron alum, good friend, and HitBoy’s personal engineer, @turnmeupdavis . (Tell hit to bring the Goldfish movie premier to Htown!!) Plus lots of gear, knobs, speakers, synths, compressors, and fear-mongering about AI 🤣🤣😭
We’re all glad to be back in Houston, and charged up for 2026. If you are ready to do some high-level work, hit us up.
