Extreme cold weather is here, and your local shelter needs your help! Please consider donating new or gently used blankets, towels, sheets, bath mats, pet beds etc. to keep the shelter animals warm in their cold kennels. Every donation makes a difference! #adoptdontshop #thebarkingproject

If you find an animal outside during extreme cold weather, DO NOT LOOK AWAY, YOUR IMMEDIATE ACTION CAN SAVE ITS LIFE. BRING THEM SOMEWHERE WARM AND/OR CALL 311. Under the Safe Outdoor Dogs Act and local Dallas ordinances, it is illegal to leave a dog outside without adequate shelter during a weather advisory or when temperatures drop below 32°F. If you find a stray cat you cannot get inside, build a quick shelter: Use a plastic bin or cardboard box. IMPORTANT: Line it with STRAW, NOT BLANKETS. Blankets and towels hold moisture and will freeze, actually pulling heat away from the animal.
