Cheers to all my beautiful lesbians who came to support my show during comedy festival. I wrote this show for you.
The Cocktail Hour could not have been possible without the amazing support from my queer community. It's been so nice to reflect this week on what lesbian identity means to me personally, the role it has played in my life as well as how it impacts me as a performer, as a writer and to learn more about the role other lesbians have played in creating spaces for others.
I've become so passionate about this show. And it only seems to become more relevant with every season. Every joke, every story is rooted in truth. It became a way for me to talk about the misogyny I had experienced in my own community.To talk about it In the only way I knew how, by pointing, laughing and ridiculing it together.
And to my surprise, it spoke to others as well.
Thank you to everyone I've shared a cocktail with on stage and off. Thank you to everyone who shared their favourite lesbian history story and/ or their hospitality trauma with me at the bar after the show.
