The Assembly on Literature for Adolescents (ALAN) of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) is pleased and proud to announce the 2026 Amelia Elizabeth Walden Book Award for Young Adult Fiction winner. The winner is All the Noise at Once by DeAndra Davis. Established in 2008 to honor the wishes of young adult author Amelia Elizabeth Walden, the award allows for a monetary prize to be presented annually to the author of a young adult title selected by the ALAN Amelia Elizabeth Walden Book Award Committee as demonstrating a positive approach to life, widespread teen appeal, and literary merit. The award winner and the and finalists will be honored at the 2026 ALAN Workshop on Monday, November 24th in Philadelphia, PA, and the authors will be invited to participate in a panel discussion. The 2026 Amelia Elizabeth Walden Award Committee would like to thank: the Amelia Elizabeth Walden Award Foundation, the ALAN Executive Council, the ALAN Board of Directors, NCTE, and the many publishers who submitted titles for consideration. The 2026 Amelia Elizabeth Walden Award Committee considered over 300 young adult titles throughout the process. The committee was comprised of eleven members representing the university, K-12 school, and library communities. The ALAN Review editorial team is excited to announce that, starting with volume 54, Jason DeHart will be a co-editor for the journal. Jason served as the first editor for the Let Them Read column and recently guest edited issue 53.3 on young adult graphic novels. We are also welcoming some new column editors for our upcoming volumes. We received such a strong set of applications that we were able to name columnists for volumes 54 (2026 - 2027) and 55 (2027 - 2028) for Adolescence in Academic and From the Practitioner’s Desk. Adolescence in Academia Volume 54: Christian Gregory Volume 55: Leah Day From the Practitioner’s Desk Volume 54: Leslie Brenner Volume 55: Katie Fenton Additionally, the overwhelming enthusiasm for the Meeting in the Middle column allowed us to name the columnists for volumes 54 through 56 (the end of our tenure as editors). The columnists are: Volume 54: Renee Stites Kruep Volume 55: René M. Rodríguez-Astacio Volume 56: Andrea Glaws Leilya Pitre and Crag Hill will continue to serve as column editors for ALAN’s Past, Present, and Future, where they help us remember ALAN’s and YA’s history and look ahead to the future.
