Safer cities don’t happen by accident. They happen through leadership and real partnerships.
Baltimore has seen historic reductions in violent crime, and Greg worked alongside Mayor Brandon Scott to make some of that progress possible.
He’s seen Greg’s leadership up close. He knows Greg brings people together, builds solutions that work, and helps communities get real results.
That’s the kind of leadership DC needs right now.
Less talk. More action.
Less Talk. More Action.

In 2013, a walk home in DC turned near fatal when I was shot in two arteries. Since that day, thousands of DC families have been shattered by gun violence including three youth I mentored in southeast DC. Tragedy led me to action: serving residents in the Mayor’s office, fighting for policy change on Capitol Hill and advising President Biden as his Special Assistant on Gun Violence Prevention where we reduced homicides by 49% in just three years. I want to bring those policies, resources and leadership to DC.
For generations our family struggled to keep the lights on, but my parents charted a new path through working multiple jobs to buy their first home that broke generations of poverty. As a Ward 8 homeowner, I am building on their legacy and have supported thousands of other homeowners thrive in the District through my “Ownership Matters” network. I will work to create more pathways for homeownership, deliver on housing for all residents and fight for more jobs to support us all during harsh times.
Born of first generation HBCU grads, education was not just a priority it was an expectation for my brother and I. Despite coming from an under resourced school, I was able graduate from the UVA, where I served as class President and brother of Alpha Phi Alpha. Your zipcode shouldn’t decide your destination. I aim to invest and expand education opportunities for all DC residents to thrive.
Our District is under siege. Trump’s takeover has cut crucial funds from our budget, militarized our streets and instill fear in our communities. I have testified before Congress against those who aim to undermine, villainize and destroy the historic legacy of the District. I will fight for our resources, protecting home rule and the rights of every resident.
Let’s win this thing!
Final day at the White House. Someone asked me to describe my experience in three words and all could say is “Whoa, Wow, Whew”
Whoa…because I can’t believe that a country boy from a small farm in Fluvanna, that had the audacity to try to change the wrongs he saw in the world and after being nearly killed rose through advocacy to be appointed Special Assistant to the President of the United States.
Wow…because our collective movement made historic strides towards change. Passing the first law in 29 years on gun violence, taking 54 transformative executive actions, made $240 billion available to address violence, activated 12 federal agencies to take action and engaged over 2,000 leaders across sectors. All this work led to two years of historic drops in homicides, totaling approx 30% drop in homicides across the country.
Whew…because this year I took 47 flights, enough to literally fly around the earth 1.6 times and poured countless hours and pain into advancing this life saving work.
This was truly the honor of my life and I’m forever grateful to all that played a part, supported me or made this happen. Special thanks to @potus@vp and @steffeldman for entrusting me with the biggest honor of my life…to date…so much more to come!
We talk national politics nonstop… but are we ignoring the elections that impact us most?
DC Council At-Large candidate @gregorynealjackson thinks so. He says he’s running because he believes some of our biggest problems can actually be solved locally.

Amazing mental health awareness run sponsored by @districtrunningcollective today! …and yes I ran 3 miles today!
Proud to share my experience with violent trauma and how I secured $2 billion in youth mental health resources across the nation. Lastly, thank you to @marsgreen for always priority physical and mental health in our community.

The Federal surge in law enforcement and troops is not about public safety, it is about control and even incarceration to parents who have not been educated or supported when their teens gather due to lack of safe spaces. We must speak out and demand investment in prevention not just reactive enforcement without services.
DC is at a critical economic point, now having the highest unemployment of any major city while being one of the least affordable cities in the country.
My affordability plan is focused on the now and the future. It will lower everyday costs, restore and expand opportunities, and help more residents build wealth through homeownership and opening businesses in the city we love.

My Grandma officially joined the #ActionTeam this #MothersDay …proudest day of the campaign for me and can’t wait to share all the war stories with her when this is over!
Hey y’all, I just wanted to come on here and share some of my frustrations through this campaign. This city is experiencing historic crises and we are not talking about it enough. I care about bike lanes, but I also care about creating jobs, supporting small businesses, housing the unhoused, making the city more affordable, and saving our youth from this public health crisis of violence in our communities. That is why I’m running. #dctakeover #trump #endgunviolence #inflation #rent
Today we launched our affordability plan by listening to the people living it every day. We sat down with the owners of Loeb’s NY Deli on I Street celebrating its 67th anniversary and heard firsthand what it takes to keep the doors open through changing times. Real stories like theirs are why this work matters. Support them in their 67th year! #smallbusiness #dcision26 #affordability
