#ArchiveAndAccess: Earlier this summer, we posted information about the OS’s OPEN RESOURCE HUB and plans for its reorganization; (check it out in our grid for more). Today, we are so thrilled to announce that the PEOPLE’S RESISTANCE RESOURCES page is revamped and easier to navigate than ever! Thanks so much to summer Operations Apprentice Avianna Miller (@a____miller ) for your hard work assisting on this project. // This page has been live since 2016, but (like the original version of the library) was originally created in its most DIY, plain text form to reduce labor and time drag. Now that library is a searchable database and on the OS PRR page you’ll find that our extensive collection of links and resources (and often already compiled guides of further resources) have been reorganized and designed for easy navigation and access! This page exists to to assist anyone and everyone dealing with immediate and ongoing resistance work, political, social justice and human rights issues – and perhaps seeking concrete TOOLS and/or TEACHING GUIDES and SYLLABI for personal, community, or classroom use! Unfortunately, many links of this sort are short lived as mutual aid efforts can be temporary – but our guide is now fully updated and only contains live, active links ready for you to use and share! // In addition to her excellent work on the People’s Resistance Resources page, Avianna has also been instrumental in this summer’s review of the OS Open Project Resources, which will soon be part of an expanded, fully detailed Operating System User's Manual. Stay tuned for more info in the future! For now, please join us in thanking Avianna for her contributions, and check out the People’s Resistance Resources on the OS website — link in bio! // #OpenResource Hub #OpenAccess #Archive #Access #Toolshare #PeerLearning #CreativeCommons #OpenSource #Documentation #Publication #Technology #Writing #Syllabi #Workbooks #Projects #Instruction #MutualAid #Resources #DigitalAccess

#ArchiveAndAccess: Following our recent post about the focus of the OS project, we want to remind you that the OPEN ACCESS LIBRARY is ready for the public and share more information about this resource. While we’ll still be making small changes and updates, as well as adding more materials, each entry is now complete with contributor info, descriptions and reviews about the titles, and FREE DOWNLOAD links, among other information. This is, and will continue to become, a thorough and organized archive. // Among the titles featured in the archive SO FAR are: 106 print documents; 47 chapbooks; 29 hybrids; 16 translations; 12 dual-language works; 7 translingual works; 9 artists’ books; 8 performance texts; and 4 anthologies. // Once again, these works are available digitally for FREE. However, there are also links to purchase physical copies of some texts, if you so choose; more will be available as we work this summer on integrating our publications to Ingram/POD (and all currently out-of-print titles return to print). If you wish and have the means, there are also options to donate to the OS or directly to authors (which will also continue to be updated). But the goal of the library is to make these titles easily accessible to everyone without requiring a capitalist exchange or the production of a physical copy. // We hope you make good use of our archive and the works of the contributors who comprise the OS. #ArchiveAndAccess: Did you know that the OS website has long been home to not only our Open Access Library, but also to the OPEN RESOURCE HUB? These two databases have some overlap, which will continue to grow as more resources are added, but are also home to a distinct abundance of resources, all available to access for free. // The Resource Hub is the permanent home of our OPEN PROJECT TOOLS (essentially blueprint instructions to every part of the OS’s operations — look out for a future post specifically about this resource). It also holds a wide collection of syllabi, reading lists, action tools, strategies, project materials, workbooks, and more. These are being organized into easily searchable categories including Climate & Ecology; Abolition, Antiracism & Equity; Community Organizing, Voting & Political Engagement; Disability & Access; Citizen Health & Collective Care; Mutual Aid & Solidarity; and Tech for Revolution. // Currently, the Open Resource Hub is primarily in text-only form, but it is being REVAMPED & REORGANIZED similarly to the Open Access Library. Operations Apprentice Avianna Miller (@a____miller ) is providing support on this process for the summer. Stay tuned for more info as this resource gets retooled for its easiest ever navigation! If you have questions or feedback, please let us know! // Additionally, Elæ Moss (@thetroublewithbartleby ) will be hosting a Liminal Lab workshop, LET'S GET PHYSICAL, starting 8/2. The workshop’s goal is helping one another develop/complete personal projects, using the infrastructure provided by the OS — including the Open Resource Hub. See our previous post on @liminallab for more info, and consider signing up if you’d like guidance on these resources! // We hope you’ll make good use of our extensive resources, and help us disseminate them to anyone else they might benefit! LINK IN BIO. // Note: Post uses words by Elæ Moss from the Operating System website. // #OpenResource Hub #OpenAccess #Archive #Access #Toolshare #PeerLearning #CreativeCommons #OpenSource #Documentation #Publication #Technology #Writing #Syllabi #Workbooks #Projects #Instruction #MutualAid #Resources #DigitalAccess

GRATITUDE: In case you haven’t heard or watched, the new BREAKDOWN: The Poet & The Poems is out and available on YouTube! Season 2, Episode 2 of BREAKDOWN: The Poet & The Poems Episode 2 features JP Howard, founder of Women Writers in Bloom Salon, and her prize-winning collection, SAY/MIRROR (The Operating System). This limited series of BREAKDOWN features "lineage literature," poets who write about or are heavily influenced by their own family lineage. In this clip, JP shares a bit of what it was like growing up with a “Diva Mama.” Ms. Ruth King was a well-known model who broke the color barrier for brown-skinned models with natural hair. Daughters often feel pressured to compete with their mothers or their mothers’ expectations. JP explains that her mother shared her confidence and encouraged her to speak up for herself (even if the two disagreed). Small wonder that poet, JP Howard is both a community organizer and activist. Check out the full episode on the YouTube channel posted in my profile or cut and paste here:  https://youtu.be/EgzATDv1WBw This opportunity is made possible through the Literary Arts Projects, a program of South Arts. [zoom registration links in stories / bio / linktree!] Friends and Comrades Across Timespace! It’s almost time for the second LIVE roundtable of the FROM SURVIVAL TO SANCTUARY: SPECULATIVE SOLIDARITIES IN CONVERSATION series, this Tuesday, April 30, at 7:30 pm EST! I’m so excited to be in conversation with these *brilliant* thinker-maker-movers, and I hope you’ll join us (on *zoom* so you can be anywhere and everywhere). In dialogue with me will be Luciana Achugar, Chloë Bass, and Arien Wilkerson, for “ARCHIVE + ACCESS: MOVING and BEING MOVED,” where we’ll be leaning into PERFORMANCE PUBLICATION & DOCUMENTATION as RADICAL PRAXIS! But we’re still, really, talking about the politics of meaning-making for everyone – for the people, by the people, as a sort of commons-ing writ large across and within and around different creative mediums and approaches. If you missed our last conversation, focusing on MEANING-MAKING for the COMMONS with Clarinda Mac Low and Marcelo Lopez Dinardi, it’s now archived as an evergreen resource for your further spelunking! – each one of these conversations will be made available in audio form via IMAGINAL DISCO on Substack, as a YouTube video, with a full transcript and bonus content. The first conversation was a delight, and you can find videos, links, and other materials from projects and resources discussed in that episode. Stay tuned for announcements on continued events and partners beyond this initial spring run! Can’t wait to share what’s in the works. These first three LIVE events are a co-production of my studio, Autonomous Mechanics, and the Center for the Advancement of Public Action at Bennington, where I’m in my last few weeks as a fellow! Bittersweet as that journey comes to a close, but surely it’s a portal, not a terminus. #AutonomousMechanics #FromSurvivaltoSanctuary #SpeculativeSolidarities #ArchiveAndAccess #Praxis #Performance #PublicAction #CreativePractice #Art #MeaningMaking #OpenSource #ToolBuilding #Resources #Liberation #Selfhacking #Sanctuary #FutureBuilding #SpeculativeArt #Publication #Archive #InformationWorkers #CultureWorkers #ResearchArt #Art #Dance #Movement #Body

Original publication disclaimer: this material is for educational and entertainment purposes only! Occupy nothing, get back to work! 🫠 // If you haven’t seen these collectively drafted materials before here’s a little history: the original version of this zine comes out of the 2009/2010 university occupations in the United States. It was updated in 2012 to include lessons learned from Occupy Oakland. The zine provides an overview of techniques and tactics that can be used to occupy a building. Includes a look at various roles (media, legal support), reconnaissance, barricading, defending occupied spaces, and much more. **Please print / consult / circulate the full pdf which has critical strategic info about more organizational elements of running a safe operation including setting up legal and medical support, prepping go bags, and more. The slides here are only a selection of the full materials, so if you’re referencing or distributing consider going to Sprout for digital or print pdfs. // I’ve also included a slide from the “Take what is ours because everything is ours,” game for occupiers, originally produced in 2012 by The Imaginary Committee. The original pdfs of both of these (and more) are at @libcom and the updated version post Occupy Oakland for print and digital use is at @sproutdistro and on @internetarchive . #ootd #zines #PublicInformation #commons
