The Ultra Shoe by @the_omm 🔥 Having taken part in the Arc, UTS, Spine and soon to be racing @lakeland_50_100@challengerunning Backyard Ultra, I was very excited to hear that OMM have not only entered the shoe market.. but dropped their very own ULTRA shoe!
It’s packing a lot of tech engineered towards comfort, durability and performance! This includes a high cushioning stack-height of 30mm, ergonomic lightweight EVA, 8mm drop, Vibram Traction/MegaGrip 4mm lugs, Vibram Litebase (30% lighter), X-lacing, two layer durable upper and astonishingly.. coming in lighter than 270g 🤯
Very impressed so far with my first few runs! Comfort is unreal, they also feel speedy! It’s impressive that OMM have managed to do this whilst also creating a shoe that feels super stable to run in on uneven ground! I went true to size with a regular fit.. this provides adequate toe box room, a locked-down mid-foot and locked-down heel 🔥Although, due to the X-lacing technology, I’d personally recommend going half a size up or going for their plus “+” wider sizing if you prefer a more relaxed fit or have flat/fat feet like me and plan to run 100+ mile events in them! 🙊🔥❤️

There’s things I really love about this shoe, the grip is one. I think what I’ve been missing in my trail choices is a really decent pair of lugs. There’s a sentence I never thought I’d say. The thing is, this shoe is clever, it’s built for ultra marathons. A little wider than their regular fit it’ll accommodate the swelling that comes with these events. It’s cushioned but you still feel at one with the trail, super responsive when you pick up the pace- which fills me with confidence. I feel like a kid again. Much like their trail shoe it’s designed for the off road stuff, and it feels like they want to take you there. Cross lock to keep your foot secure is a clever additive for a long distance shoe and although I haven’t tested over ultra distance I think this one’s going all the way 👌
If I was to add one thing, I’d love to see drainage points on them. (I haven’t actually taken them through water so they may react brilliantly and I will update this)
but I seem to spend my life wading rivers because of ‘funny’ race directors and a drainage point on these would make them perfect.
