At long last, here is “Choose Your Own Fate,” a 24” x 24” behemoth of a piece for Say Gay at @mizegallery opening this Friday from 6-9pm. The outside filigree frame is hand-cut paper and WOW that about killed me (and my hands).
I just got done updating my portfolio on my website (link in bio! 🥴) and I really can't believe all that I've managed to produce this year, this most of all. This was SUCH a challenge, and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to do it. Just a friendly reminder that I could not do this without you - your support, your friendship, your community. Thank you, so very incredibly much. None of this would exist without you.
Took a few minutes away from work and dropped this off today at the Morean Arts Center for the 10 Years of Shine celebration, opening next Friday at the Morean from 5-8pm, and officially kicking off the tenth year of the Shine Mural Festival. This piece was inspired by my own Shine mural, Breaking Free, painted last year behind the Werk Gallery, 2210 1st Ave S. Come out and help us celebrate ten years of beautifying St. Pete with public art!
This was, without a doubt, the most disgusting beverage I have ever tried to drink. Of course, Middle Child decided to give it a go. Some of his key takeaways: “This tastes like you put your hand in a garbage disposal and ate what you pulled out” “I would rather lick a car tire” “this is what the contents of a cow’s stomach tastes like.”
I can’t help myself. Just this morning, I have finished my newest piece, and here is a teaser for it. It is called Dreamers at Dawn and depicts Achilles and Patroclus in a golden weightless moment of rapturous adoration. I can’t wait to show you the rest, so stay tuned for more on where you can see it very soon. ☁️✨💛
Bring it home. @the_meatyard ’s tombstones are now available inside the Tourist Trap. What would you put to rest?

The Battle of Purrlennor Fields, 36” x 12”, watercolor and colored pencil. On view at REALM at FloridaRAMA for the months of May and June, curated by Chad Mize.
This is a piece I have wanted to paint for a long time. I have long drawn inspiration from the world of JRR Tolkien, and The Battle of Pelennor Fields from The Return of the King has always been one of my favorite parts: an outnumbered and overpowered army charges into battle against evil, vowing to fight with all their might regardless of what end may come to them. Especially in recent times, I have re-read and re-watched this part because it gives me hope and rouses me to fight my own battles, no matter how overpowered and outnumbered I may often feel. The darker things become, the easier it seems to sink into hopelessness, this helps to remind me that nothing is truly lost as long as we remain in the fight. To paraphrase a line from another LOTR character, that there is some good in this world, and it’s worth fighting for.
In my interpretation, our collective foe - fascism, hatred, evil - is represented by the figure in the dark foreground, inspired by The Witch King of Angmar. Our heroes, charging in from the light, ride fierce cats into battle. The composition itself takes inspiration from many renaissance and baroque era battle scene paintings.
Teaser for my newest piece “The Battle of Purrlennor Fields,” created for REALM, opening tomorrow night at 7pm at FloridaRAMA, curated by Chad Mize. There are so many great pieces in this show, join us there!
