Day 2: Strategic Action Plan Training with South East Cockpit LFMC 🌿✨
Continuing the journey of resilience and partnership as the Local Forest Management Committee engages in Day 2 of the Strategic Action Plan training.
Power saw equipment and safety gear were officially handed over to the Executives of the South East Cockpit Local Forest Management Committee (LFMC) recently, to support ongoing forest recovery and community resilience efforts.
The equipment will help strengthen the LFMC’s capacity to clear fallen trees, improve access to forested areas, and carry out recovery activities more safely and effectively.
This support forms part of continued efforts, funded by CEPF/CANARI, to empower community-based forest managers with the tools and resources needed to protect Jamaica’s forests, restore affected areas, and support livelihoods linked to sustainable forest management.
The Executive Body of the South East Cockpit Country LFMC recently participated in a Strategic Action Plan training session designed to strengthen organisational planning, leadership, and coordination.
The session focused on helping the LFMC clarify its priorities, identify practical actions, and build a stronger roadmap for supporting forest conservation and community development within the South East Cockpit Country area.
This training forms part of ongoing efforts, funded by CEPF/CANARI, to build the capacity of LFMCs to plan more effectively, mobilise resources, and play a stronger role in the sustainable management of Jamaica’s forest resources.
The Umbrella Local Forest Management Committee (LFMC) body recently participated in a governance and capacity-building training workshop in Mandeville Manchester, aimed at strengthening the organisation’s leadership, coordination, and operational effectiveness.
The session provided an opportunity for members to reflect on good governance practices, improve organisational systems, and build the capacity needed to better represent and support Local Forest Management Committees across Jamaica.
This training marks another important step toward empowering LFMCs to lead more effectively, advocate for their communities, and contribute to the sustainable management of Jamaica’s forest resources.
The training is part of the CEPF/CANARI funded initiative being led by the EFJ to help strengthen community-led forest governance.
