✨Book Review - 21 Willow Lane by Keri Beevis✨
Ad/Gifted
Thank you to @boldwoodbooks and @netgalley for the advanced copy of this fun read.
Set in a quiet village still haunted by a twenty-year-old mystery, the story had such an unsettling undertone throughout that kept me wanting to uncover what had really happened.
I really enjoyed the multiple points of view, which helped build the mystery from different angles and made it difficult to know who could truly be trusted. The use of unreliable narrators worked especially well and kept me constantly second-guessing everything I thought I knew. There was a lingering tension throughout the book, particularly surrounding the town’s history and the characters who all seemed to be hiding something.
The village setting itself added so much atmosphere to the story. There’s something about small-town thrillers where everyone knows each other or thinks they do, that always makes the mystery feel even more unsettling. The decades-old case surrounding the Pretty Corner Girls added an extra layer of intrigue and made the story feel darker and more emotional as more secrets started coming to light.
I will say this was definitely more of a slow-burn thriller, especially in the first half, but once the pace picked up towards the final section, I found myself much more invested and eager to see how everything would unfold. While I guessed a couple of the twists along the way, the suspense and character dynamics still kept me engaged throughout.

✨Book Review - Blood Pact by Cameron Curtis✨
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wow! I somehow went into Blood Pact without realising it was actually book 13 in the Breed Thriller series but honestly, it worked brilliantly as a standalone and I never once felt lost. From the very first chapter, this book completely pulled me in and refused to let go.
This was such a fast-paced, action-packed thriller with constant tension throughout. Breed and Stein are thrown into a dangerous mission involving conspiracies, secret societies, ancient history and a mysterious gold ring, and the story quickly becomes a race against time across some incredibly atmospheric settings. The pacing was relentless in the best possible way and made this a real page-turner that was difficult to put down.
What really stood out to me was how cinematic the whole story felt. Reading this genuinely felt like watching an intense episode of FBI or CSI — full of investigations, dangerous twists, high-stakes missions and nonstop suspense. I could easily imagine this playing out on screen.
I also really loved the inclusion of the historical fiction elements woven into the story. It added another layer to the mystery and made everything feel even more immersive. The snowy Bavarian settings, castles and hidden secrets created such vivid imagery throughout the book and gave the thriller such a dramatic atmosphere.
Breed himself was such a compelling main character — intelligent, capable and impossible not to root for. Even as someone completely new to the series, I was immediately invested in him and now definitely want to go back and read more of the earlier books.

Blurb
A suspicious death. A brutal second murder. And too many people with something to hide.
During a blistering summer heatwave, detectives Sam Freeman and Jenny Newcombe are called to an exclusive estate, where a fabulously wealthy woman lies dead at the foot of her stairs. At first glance, it looks like a tragic accident. But when forensics uncover new evidence, the investigation takes a dark turn.
Hannah Gillespie’s complicated and blended family offers no shortage of tension. Both her and new husband George bring bitter adult children to the relationship, and not everyone has an alibi. When whispers of past disappearances surface, even the victim is put under the microscope.
Then a second woman is murdered. Killed in the same way.
As Sam and Jenny dig deeper, they uncover financial irregularities, altered wills and long-simmering grudges. Everyone had a reason to be angry, and more than one person had something to lose. But who is willing to kill again to keep the truth buried?
With pressure mounting and time running out, the detectives must untangle the truth from a web of deception and betrayal before another life is destroyed.
Deadly Summer is a gripping police procedural packed with twists and perfect for fans of Cara Hunter and Angela Marsons.

✨Book Review - The Tabby in Black by Mandy Morton✨
Ad/Gifted
The Tabby in Black was such a fun and quirky cosy mystery, packed full of humour, clever puns and plenty of feline chaos. Even though this is book 16 in The No. 2 Feline Detective Agency series, I found it incredibly easy to jump into as a standalone and quickly settled into the wonderfully unique world Mandy Morton has created.
The story follows Hettie and Tilly as they investigate a grisly murder connected to the Catberry chocolate factory after bones are discovered in a vat used to make the famous Tabby in Black chocolates. From there, the mystery unfolds with plenty of clues, suspicious characters and light-hearted twists to keep the story entertaining throughout.
One of the things I loved most was the imaginative cat-filled world. In this universe, humans don’t exist and the feline characters take on everyday jobs, from post delivery to motorbike riding, morticians and musicians, which made the whole story feel wonderfully eccentric and charming. The anthropomorphic cats added such a playful element and made the book stand out from a typical cosy mystery.

✨Book Review - The Fake Wife by Emily Shiner✨

Thank you to @bookouture and @authoremilyshiner for the free copy to review for the book tour!
Thoughts:
The Fake Wife was such an unhinged, bingeable thriller and honestly… I flew through it.
From the very beginning, the story throws you straight into the chaos and never really lets you catch your breath. The premise alone is wild, but somehow it just keeps getting more dramatic, twisted, and addictive as the story unfolds.
One of my favourite things about this book was the combination of POVs throughout the chapters. Seeing the story from different perspectives worked really well and added so much to the tension because you’re constantly piecing together what’s real, who can actually be trusted, and what everyone is hiding. Every time I thought I understood the bigger picture, another chapter would completely shift things again.
The characters are messy, toxic, dramatic, and honestly a little chaotic—in the best thriller way possible 😂 The friendships, relationships, revenge, and obsession all combine into this really entertaining spiral of secrets and manipulation.

✨Book Review - Kiss, Marry, Murder by Faye Brann✨
Ad/Gifted
My Thoughts:
Kiss, Marry, Murder was such a fun, fast-paced and genuinely entertaining cosy mystery. From the very beginning, the story throws Jess Sinclair into absolute chaos and honestly… I loved every second of it. Between becoming the prime suspect in a murder investigation, dealing with threatening notes and trying to rebuild her life after leaving television, Jess quickly finds herself completely out of her depth and it makes for such an addictive read.
Jess was a brilliant main character. She’s messy, impulsive and constantly finding herself in awkward situations, but that’s exactly what made her so lovable. I really felt for her throughout the story and desperately wanted things to work out for her. The humour running through the book balanced perfectly with the mystery, and there were so many cringe-worthy moments that had me laughing while still completely invested in solving the murder.
Blurb:
Comedy Women in Print Prize winner and author of Tinker, Tailor, Schoolmum, Spy Faye Brann is back with a new, fast-paced murder mystery series.
TV reality show host and former journalist Jessica Sinclair quits her job after receiving a death threat and is scratching a living as a private investigator when she discovers the body of her former best friend, Marianne Hughes. Accused of her murder by a police chief with a grudge and devastated that she never got to put her relationship right with Marianne, Jessica sets out to find her killer.
Smelling D-list celebrity blood, the press set up shop outside her front door after news of her involvement with the case is conveniently leaked. Jessica begins to suspect the answer is close to home - perhaps literally. With the help of her two new recruits – bitter divorcee Darcy, and Della, a frozen fish truck driver – Jessica investigates the most likely suspects and ends up revealing uncomfortable secrets.
When more threatening notes arrive, Jessica realises that she really does have a target on her back. Time is running out... Can she find the murderer before they kill her, too?

✨Book Review - The Play by Brian Montgomery ✨
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ad/Gifted copy
The Play was such a beautifully written and incredibly heartfelt read. I honestly still can’t believe this is a YA novel because of how deeply it tackled so many dark and emotional issues with such care and honesty. It felt raw, powerful and painfully real at times, and I found myself becoming completely invested in the characters and their stories.
What stood out most to me was how the book highlights the battles so many young people are quietly facing every single day without many of us even realising. Brian Montgomery handled these themes with so much compassion, showing both the struggles and the strength it takes to keep going. It never felt overdramatic, instead, it felt genuine and incredibly moving.
The characters were wonderfully developed and felt so authentic throughout. Their emotions, relationships and personal journeys were written in a way that made it impossible not to care about them. Harry and Sara especially completely broke my heart. Their story was emotional, unforgettable and had me feeling genuinely teary, especially towards the ending.
Thank you to @zooloosbooktours for the chance to read this hard-hitting story!

✨Book Review: The Runaway Girl – Andrea Barton ✨
Ad/Gifted #ad
Having really enjoyed book three in the Jade Riley series, I was so excited to jump back into another adventure with Jade—and The Runaway Girl definitely delivered another gripping and thought-provoking mystery.
This time, the story feels darker and more ominous than some of the previous books, with a stronger political edge running throughout. The themes of power, exploitation, and corruption give the story a much heavier atmosphere, and it made the stakes feel incredibly real. I found it really interesting seeing Jade navigate an investigation that felt broader and more dangerous than before.
One thing I continue to love about this series is Jade herself. She’s determined, intelligent, and easy to root for, and I genuinely enjoy following her from case to case. Because I’d connected with her so much in book three, I was immediately invested in where this story would take her next.
