Nostalgia –
Personally, I don’t really like nostalgia; it makes me see time passing and the growing gap of the past.
However, I once had the idea of bringing back that nostalgia we felt as kids—the ease of spending hours talking about everything and nothing, anywhere.
Back then, time didn’t matter.
But that... was back then. ⚘️

Abissa is a traditional cultural festival celebrated by the Nzema people, mainly in the city of Grand-Bassam in Côte d’Ivoire. This festival, rich in symbols and ceremonies, usually takes place in October and November and lasts about a week. It is marked by dances, songs, purification ceremonies and rituals where participants often wear traditional costumes and masks.
Abissa has strong social and spiritual significance. It is a time of gathering and communion for the Nzema community, which takes the opportunity to take stock of the past year. Individuals are encouraged to freely express their feelings, criticisms and concerns, which allows the community to address and resolve conflicts frankly. This celebration therefore highlights transparency and social justice, two fundamental values in the Nzema culture.
The highlight of the Abissa is the collective dance called the **Dance of the Soul**, which symbolizes cohesion and harmony between individuals and ancestors. Today, the Abissa is not only a local festival but also a tourist attraction that highlights the richness of Ivorian cultural heritage.
