In chrono order:
1. Created the signature “lurrrk” for Howleen in G3 which was then passed over to content and translated for animation! So insane to see something I designed canonized in official animation.
2. Put the G1 girlies on the silver scream with a b&w collection inspired by classic movie advertising and print techniques.
3. Convinced upper management that a Uber eats rat on a bike would be funny and fun in my first G3 toy design.
4. Made OOAK runway “toy” earrings and accessories for the F21 Maisie Wilen collab + created my first CP item, Frankie’s earrings - life size.
5. Moonlighted as a Barbara CP designer and created a dreamy collector bag that Gerard Way bought in front of me at the Mark Ryden x Barbie gallery opening!!!!
Congrats @little.linda@javi_swavi for launching this history making line that truly celebrates the diversity of doll play and invites everyone to play👏🏼👏🏽👏🏾👏🏿 @time has a incredible writeup on this line that everyone should read. .
Also - from a fashunnn POV I highkey love that all these kiddos must have some fab relatives blessing them with some @netaporter designer goodies bc I love the homages to RTW runway trends! Slide 4: Versace, MGSM / Valentino / Oscar De La Renta / Jeremy Scott refs that I can totally see being distilled down into these kid friendly lewks. ⚠️ Warning, long personal ramblings ahead! ⚠️When I heard initially that Kamala would be part of the MCU, I hoped at best for a fun cameo in Spider-Man (maybe a robotics school showdown with where a girl from New Jersey faces off with the boy from Queens?) And honestly? That alone would’ve rocked my world but to have Marvel and Disney commit to a full, first on Disney+ live action show?! That a geeky brown girl from a immigrant family straddling those two cultures is getting a chance to be a coming of age superhero onscreen next to classics like Peter Parker and Kitty Pryde- that Marvel and Disney chose to make more room for all kinds of stories in their teen Superhero canon??? 😱😍SHOOK.

Kamala isn’t my first or my favorite superhero - but she is the only hero I have straight up bawled at/with upon reading her origin story. That even though we don’t share the same culture or religion (I’m not) - reading that push pull of trying to find your way as a immigrant kid, the codeswitching, the delicate dance of figuring out how to respect the heritage of your parents but also trying to meld that with the person you’re so desperately trying to become as a teen...the way it was written just hit me in that gut wrenching so real it hurts place and suddenly I was a 15 yo kid in the suburbs dealing with it all minus superpowers all over again. I don’t know if Kamala will hit so deeply with everyone (I mean, I love me some Thor but his origin story doesn’t make me well up in tears y’know) but I’m excited for more people to learn about her and I have high hopes they’ll like and love her too.

In this line, Catra + Adora share a slimmer body while Glimmer has a curvier body, specifically w a smaller bust / bigger tum + hips and thicker legs - as these characters are roughly similar in height - hopefully this helps those looking to compare bodies in the line. Now onto the dolls!!!! I’m always team #badgirlsclub so Catra was always my #1 to design - she has every single rip on her pants + arm stripes from the show, full deco on her horde insignia, a rotating tail and because we know canonically she’s a lowkey furry, she has a orange non-human skin tone. Glimglam comes w her two toned hair gelled to the gods of mass production in order to achieve the shape, her two layered jumpsuit w attached cape, all accessories in the show minus the white glove that is painted onto her lower arm, my favorite detail her moon sole sculpted boots and has a medium skin tone (like the show she is both darker than Shera/ Adora and if you have a original DCSHG Wonder Woman they share the same tone) and she is the only character to have the star sparkle in her eye screening 💖✨

I’m going to be honest - I am so burnt out physically but passionately refueled from working at the Mattel booth helping those of you lucky enough to be at SDCC this year have your own Shera moments that I have not had a ton of time to take pictures of the booth (see @vitamin_d_81 / @garrett_sander for some great shots!) But I did want to take a moment to showcase some small special SHERA details you might not have all seen yet - #sheraxmattel is the only line we have right now that has exclusive sole design prints for every single character that wears shoes in the show! The shoe designs were shared to us by the animation team at dreamworks and we were so excited to see you tweeting and instagramming screenshots of the show freaking out about Bow’s hearts because we knew we were going to sneak them into the product for you to discover as well ✨✨ I only have Mattel stock photos of these two for now, but I will be adding in Adora/Glimmer when they pop up online.

It has been such a dream to bring our SPOP characters to life with @vitamin_d_81 and a million other talented hair/face/clothing designers / sculptors/packaging team who all helped make it all real! He designed both Sheras and Swiftwind and I rounded out the line w Adora and friends(and frenemy!) I’m so proud to be part of the team that launches this “first” in the doll space - for those of loving the new wave of animation from new Voltron to Steven Universe it has been a bit disheartening to not see action figures / action dolls and to only be confined to more collectible lines when we as fans know there is so much love for the characters! I’m so bloody grateful to Mattel / Dreamworks for taking a chance on this baby and trusting that kids and kids at heart will adore having these in your lives and also Target for giving us the space so that people all over the US have a chance to get them without going to special store or convention ❤️ @sabrinatwyla has some in store pictures of the product but everyone retails for $14.99 (full articulation, full soft goods, REAL hair for everyone but still affordably priced, differentiated bodies, faces and heights) and the beautiful battle Shera with Swiftwind retails together for $29.99!! .

Pt 4 and it’s our favorite militant eco terrorist! 😂🌱 The official cartoon series might STILL be on hiatus, but hey, at least we’ve gotten a couple of really cute funny shorts, one of which stars our girl Pamela! I really dig the direction they’ve taken with her on the show and I adore that they kept the Harley / Ivy friendship but my fan favorite design moment has to be that they gave her GREEN SKIN AGAIN!! For the next week I am going to be a bit full on with non-stop #sheraxmattel news as that will be launching and there’s going to be a lot of info to share but I did want to take a moment to share some love for my other baby, DCSHG! While some of you are lucky enough to have scooped up the toys already, none of the retailers by me have stocked our new dolls, so product breakdowns will probably come a little later as soon as I get my hands on them! .
