The first-ever Three Threads Fashion and Lifestyle Exhibition concluded on a high note at Vivanta, Guwahati on April 6. Featuring over 40 business stalls and drawing a footfall of more than 1000 visitors in a single day, the event brought together creativity, commerce, and community under one roof. At its core, the exhibition stood as a platform to empower women entrepreneurs and showcase their ideas in one space.
#LIFESTYLE | Women Take Centre Stage as Green Steps Brings Handloom Excellence to The Three Threads
Details: Green Steps, a women-led handcrafted home décor and apparel brand founded by Pinashi D Khataniar and Aneesha Hussain, in 2022, is emerging as a powerful example of how entrepreneurship can empower women across Assam. Based in Guwahati, the brand focuses on hand block printing inspired by Assamese and Northeastern designs, using only handloom-made fabrics.
At the luxury fashion and lifestyle exhibition by The Three Threads at Vivanta Guwahati, Green Steps made a statement with its display of men’s Eri jackets, and home décor products including curtains, table linen and bed linen, along with apparel.
“We do hand block printing of Assamese and Northeast designs, and the cloth we use is all handloom made,” Khatuniar said, describing the brand’s foundation. Their products range from home furnishings such as curtains, table runners, table lamps, cushion covers and bed runners to apparel including Eri and cotton mekhela chadors, sarees and men’s Eri jackets. Prices start at Rs 450 and go beyond Rs 7,000.
Khatuniar said their manufacturing setup, located near Kendriya Vidyalaya Khanapara, follows a women-first approach. “We are a women-led organisation, all printers are women, weavers are mostly women,” she stated. “We want to empower women in rural as well as urban areas.”
She highlighted an often-overlooked gap in support systems. “Mostly, many schemes are run for rural women. But urban women, who want to do something but do not have the scope, financially or skill-wise, can avail training from us, and then they can work with us,” Khatuniar explained.
Green Steps’ ability to customise designs based on customer requests has increased their appeal. “Some items we customise based on customer requests, like designs and colour to match their room paints,” she added. The brand, which is Startup India, DPIIT and Udyam registered, is actively present on Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Facebook and also operates a website.
#LIFESTYLE | Custom Fragrances Take Centre Stage as Du Jardin Enchants Visitors at The Three Threads
Details: If customised perfumes are your choice, Du Jardin Perfumery is here to answer your prayers. The Sukanya Talukdar-led store is, for now, offline-only in an online world, but she believes it's more of an advantage than a missed opportunity.
At The Three Threads fashion and lifestyle exhibition at Vivanta Guwahati, Du Jardin Perfumery, founded in 2023, quietly defied the digital age. While most modern brands race to establish an online presence, Talukdar is taking a completely different path: building her perfumery offline.
“We have come a long way,” she said, proudly showcasing her growing brand at the exhibition. Du Jardin offers a diverse collection of Italian, American, French, and Indian fragrances, all at a fraction of the price of premium global labels. The perfumes are long-lasting, available in male, female, and unisex categories, and can be personalised with blends crafted uniquely for each customer, Talukdar said.
But the heart of her philosophy lies in a simple belief: perfume must be experienced, not clicked.
“Perfumery is very traditional. You have to smell it. Until someone smells a fragrance, they won’t feel satisfied buying it online,” Talukdar explained. In an era where everything is digitised, she remains grounded in the sensory essence of her craft.
Her perfumes are currently sold only through physical spaces, a relative’s retail store, an outlet in Kharghuli and Hummus, a café in Uzanbazar that resells her creations. Even as online marketplaces boom, Talukdar refuses to rush into digital sales. “Maybe in five to seven years I’ll consider going online. As of now, I want to focus on my perfumery and make my collection as large and authentic as possible,” she said.
Visitors at the exhibition responded warmly, with sales rolling in. Adding a unique personal connection, Talukdar, also a tarot reader, offered complimentary tarot questions with each perfume purchase, further strengthening the intimate, human experience she values.
As she prepares to expand into B2B sales soon, Du Jardin Perfumery stands out as a rare brand that chooses
