FEMME FILM COLLECTIVE was started by @the.ope and @thejoanna.co who used to be classmates and colleagues. We noticed the lack of representation for women, especially black women, in the media and film industry. So, we decided to create a community specifically for black women working behind the scenes in film. This community, called FEMME FILM COLLECTIVE, aims to give black women a platform to share their stories and experiences.
The goal of FEMME FILM COLLECTIVE is to address the lack of diversity in the industry by bringing black women together to collaborate and support each other. Through networking events, workshops, and other activities, this community is empowering individuals and challenging the current norms in the film industry.
To join our community, kindly click the link in our bio and fill the form. Also, we are open for partnerships, so please reach out to us!š„³š„³

Public speaking has always been my Achillesā heel. Iāve spent years avoiding the stage, convincing myself that my place was behind the camera, not in front of an audience. But this year is all about audacityāabout stepping into spaces that scare me, because thatās where growth happens.
So, I took the leap. I stood on that stage, heart racing, and shared one of the most personal stories of my lifeāhow I quit my job, took a sabbatical, and went all in on my passion for media production. But what made this experience even more unforgettable was the energy in the room. The panel session was electricāso many deep, meaningful conversations, raw emotions, and powerful exchanges that reminded me why storytelling matters.
I walked away feeling inspired, humbled, and deeply grateful. A huge thank you to @waluremediaacademy for the invitation and for creating such an impactful space for conversations that matter. To my incredible friends who showed up for me in the most beautiful wayāyour presence, your cheers, and your unwavering support meant the world. I couldnāt have asked for a better tribe.
And to everyone who listened, shared, asked questions, and made this moment so specialāthank you. This is just the beginning. Hereās to pushing boundaries, embracing fear, and telling our stories boldly.

Watching you grow over the last couple of years has been such a beautiful thing to witness. Not every journey is loud.
Some are built in quiet clarity, small decisions, and choosing alignment over noise.
In this Member Spotlight, @the.ope shares how she moved from fintech into the creative industry, and how she found her true strength in building structure, systems, and sustainable businesses.
From leading high-stakes productions to helping brands operate with clarity, her journey is a reminder that growth is not always about doing more, but about becoming more intentional.
If youāve ever felt like youāre still figuring things out, this is for you.

I think life is funny, and itās true what they say about everyoneās journey and timing being different. Iāve always believed that patience brings clarity, and honestly, that has played out in my life over and over again. Right after I finished school, I really wanted to do a masterās in International Relations. It just felt right at the time. I even got admission to a school in the UK, but my dad was like, ācalm down, thereās no need to rush; finish NYSC first.ā
Because I wanted to work with the UN, I even went to Alliance FranƧaise to learn French. But funny enough, after NYSC, I wasnāt interested in doing a masterās anymore. I started working, and that completely shifted my interests. A few years later, I started an MSc in Strategic Digital Marketing at a UK school, but I had to pause due to personal reasons. When I tried to continue, some things didnāt sit right with me, so I stepped away. Eventually, I decided to go for an MBA where I could attend physical classes and actually engage with people;and I absolutely love it. For the first time in a while, I feel a level of clarity about parts of my career, and it genuinely warms my heart.
Since I was a child, Iāve always wanted to earn a doctorate. I was inspired by my uncle, who got his at 27; it felt like such a beautiful milestone. But the funny thing is, I never really knew what I wanted to study. I just wanted to be āDr.ā in an academic sense.
Now, because of my MBA, I finally have direction. I want to pursue a PhD in Management. Iāve realized that management in every sense, is who I am. Itās not just a skill; itās how I naturally think and operate. But it took me years to actually see it.
Two years ago, I read āNever Search Aloneāfrom the @hersynergytribe community, and it helped me start recognizing some of my strengths. I just didnāt fully know how to tap into them at the time. Now, through this MBA, so much clarity is coming together. I havenāt figured everything out yet, but Iām genuinely happy with the little I know right now.
Happy Birthday, My Fiyin! My Egba Princess šā¤ļø
For the past 7ā8 years, you have been such a steady, beautiful presence in my life; a friend in every sense of the word. You are absolutely brilliant, incredibly beautiful, but one of the best things about you is your heart. The way you love, the way you show up, the way you understand me so deeply⦠itās rare, and I never take it for granted.
And Iāll never get tired of talking about how brilliant you are. From being the best graduating student in our course at uni to everything you continue to achieve, I am forever in awe of your mind, your discipline, and your excellence. You inspire me more than you probably know.
Weāve had our ups and downs, but it has always been love. In my good days and my very, very low moments, you stood by me. And when I really sit and reflect on the kind of love youāve shown me over the years, it honestly makes me emotional. We may not have a million pictures, but we have the kind of memories that matter; the ones that stay with you forever. I will always, always ride for you.
On your birthday, I pray that God surrounds you with the same love you so freely give. May He open doors for you that no one can shut, elevate you in ways that leave you in awe, and bless the work of your hands beyond your expectations. May your heart always find peace, your path be filled with clarity, and your life overflow with joy, favor, and ease.
May you never lack anything good, and may you continue to grow into the fullness of everything God has called you to be. I pray that this new year brings you beautiful surprises, answered prayers, and a deeper experience of Godās love.
Thank you so much for being you, thank you for loving me wholeheartedly the way you do!
I love you so much, and Iām forever grateful for you. Happy Birthday, my person ā¤ļøš«ā¾ļø
No one rises alone. Someone, somewhere, always held the ladder.
This yearās theme, āGive to Gain,ā hits deep. My journey has been shaped by the quiet generosity of women who opened doors, shared wisdom, offered encouragement, or simply reminded me I wasnāt alone.
Today, Iām reminded that every act of support, every door opened, every word of encouragement, comes back to us as strength, community, opportunity and growth.
Through building @femmefilmcollective and being a member of @hersynergytribe ; Iāve seen the power of lifting each other up, of creating space, amplifying voices, and choosing collaboration over competition.
I urge us all today; give boldly, lift fiercely, keep showing up, keep believing. Because when we give, we gain and when we gain together, nothing can stop us.
