✨️ Meet the reader ✨️ Since I finally started my own bookstagram account & since there are almost 300 of you here (wow & thank you all so much), I figured now is a good time to introduce myself. I'm Jordan. I'm just another goth girlie with a never-ending TBR. No, seriously, I have over 720 books on my TBR currently. I started this account because I just wanted to be a part of a community where my love of horror & books meshed together. I also thought everyone might need to hear my terrible reviews. Here's some fun facts: ☆ I'm a Taurus & my birthday is Earth Day. ☆ Born & raised in Ohio. ☆ I'm a nightshift hospice nurse. ☆ I have 1 dog & 3 cats. ☆ My favorite colors are black & emerald green. ☆ My favorite book series as a kid was A Series of Unfortunate Events, and I got my first two tattoos from that series. ☆ I have over 30 tattoos. ☆ I will read just about anything, but horror & thrillers are my favorite genre. ☆ I love a book that shocks me. ☆ My favorite movies are Crimson Peak & The Addams family values. ☆ My favorite food is chocolate croissants or mashed potatoes. ☆ I'm a member of 4 different book clubs (check out the link in my bio for more info) ☆ I usually never DNF a book, but only so I can rant rate it later. ☆ All of my bookish friends say I'm a book snob and a hard rater. If you read this far, thanks for sticking around and hanging out! I'm appreciative of all of you who are following me along for my mediocre reviews. My DMs are always open for chats or recommendations!

I've been told once or twice.. or multiple times that I am a harsh critic. So, here's my rating system! Hopefully, it makes sense & you all won't think I'm too bad of a rater.

☆Bookish Trend☆ I saw @kendallreadsitall & @talesfromthekris complete this and just knew I also had to do this! This was such a fun challenge! I've never read any of these books and didn't have them on my TBR! I have actually watched a couple of the movies, but I haven't seen all of them! ❓️Have you read or watched any of these? How's your weekend going?

☆Horror for nurses☆ I was going to make you all wait until next year for these book recommendations for different nursing specialties, but I've decided to be nice and share them with you all now! Let's say it with me: this post & these recommendations are for FUN. In no way, shape, or form am I forcing you to read the books I recommend or even saying you'll absolutely love the book based off your job. As always these are HORROR books, please check your triggers warnings. Do not be like other people the first go around and message me telling me that you "can't believe I'd recommend such an awful/gorey book." Hopefully you do find a new book today deep dive into and hopefully you do love it! ❓️When you were a kid what was your dream job? If money wasn't a concern, what would your dream job be now? AOTD: I have a worksheet from when I was in 3rd grade and apparently I wanted to create pottery as a career. If money wasn't a concern I'd own a bar or a bookstore.

☆Flatlay Friday☆ Featuring the backs of books! The back side of books never get any love & that's arguably the most important part of the book! I did see a discussion a couple days ago that more and more publishers have been replacing book summaries with book reviews on the backside of books, and want to hear what you think of this! ❓️Do you read the summary on a book before buying it? What are you reading this weekend?

☆Book review☆ At this point if Johanna Van Veen writes it, I'll read it. This book is dark and Gothic and hauntingly beautiful. I loved the characters and the storyline. My favorite movie of all time is Crimson Peak and this is the first story that I've read that has ever truly compared. The setting and ghosts are perfection. ❓️What's your favorite movie? Would you rather have a ghost as a friend or a zombie as a friend?

☆Happy Nurses week☆ May 6th- May 12th is national nurses week! To celebrate nurses week I thought it'd be fun to recommend some horror books for a couple differnet nursing specialties! If you didn't know I'm a nightshift hospice nurse. I've been a nurse for over 10 years & hospice has been my specialty for over 7 of them now. I love my job and am thankful to the nurses I work with and interact with daily! Happy nurses week my fellow nurses! ❓️If you had to write a horror book based on your job/career, what would the title be named? What are you reading this weekend?

☆Book Review☆ This is the perfect Mother's day read if you enjoy unhinged boy moms, jellied salmon and ghosts. With Mother's day being this weekend, this is a short, quick and entertaining read to really give you those crazy mom vibes perfect for Sunday. This one is crazy from the very beginning and while maybe not be the scariest ghost story, it sure is an entertaining story from start to finish with probably one of my most favorite main characters. ❓️Do you enjoy cooking or baking? If you do, what is your favorite thing to cook/bake?
