Thank you to the @canada.council for #bringingtheartstolife and supporting this collaborative art project of Research and Creation with @kiwamissimo What an incredible experience traveling to Japan for the first time to explore my heritage as a Japanese Canadian artist. Months of planning, and two weeks of immersing myself in Japanese culture with world renowned fire performance artist Kiwamu Miyakubo. We skill shared, finished constructing specially designed fire katanas, collaborated on choreography, scouted locations, acquired costuming; all culminating in this final video project. #fanjuggling practice from the last jam of the year. Practicing throwing them lower so they have less hang time which requires better reflexes and technique. Also testing new fan samples cause my OG supplier shit down, which sucks cause they were the most durable. I broke like 5 different sample fans in one session 😂
