Hi! 👋🏼 I’m Sarah (Sarah Kate if I’m in trouble).
I’ve shown you glimpses of me, but if I’m going to offer guidance as you prepare for motherhood, I think it’s time I introduced myself properly.
So this is me…
1. I’m a mum of two beautiful boys who are complete yin and yang - sweet, sensitive and sensible on one side… wild, daredevil, bulldozer on the other. I love them endlessly.
2. In 2023, we left Sydney’s chaos for the country town of Mudgee; and it’s been the best decision we ever made.
3. I love to laugh (you’ll hear it from a mile away), and I love to talk (see: “overshare”). If I go missing at the pub, I’m probably telling randoms I just met about my pelvic floor recovery.
4. I’m a stage 5 clinger wife.. my husband nicknamed me “Shadow” when we first started dating because I’m just always there 🤣.
5. I didn’t enjoy pregnancy, and I wish more people had told me that was completely normal.
6. I am not a morning person, so daycare drop-off is Miss Trunchbull me… and pick-up is Temu Barbie me.
7. I love planning a party down to the tiniest detail (yes, there’s a spreadsheet for that). Actually, I have a spreadsheet for everything. Excel is my love language.
8. Modern music is not my jam; I’m stuck in the 80s and 90s, shamelessly dropping it lower than my knees can really handle after a few rosés (which I love, can you tell?)
9. I’m just scraping in at 5 foot tall and swear I’m shrinking.
10. And now for the soppy one… I love helping people. Genuinely, I do. Once you tell me what you’re going through, I am instantly invested in the journey.

I’m not having a dig at the dads… but here’s some food for thought.
Why have I never heard the term “working dad”?
We hear “working mum” all the time, like it’s something unusual. Like women having careers and kids needs its own category.
But fathers? They just… work. No label. No balancing act assumed.
Because society still treats motherhood as something that needs to be managed around work, while fatherhood barely touches how a man is seen at work at all.
It’s not a criticism of dads. It’s a reflection of how deeply unequal the expectations still are.
