Hypothesis 5 (2025)
Single channel video, colour, 9m11s; ultrasonic directional speaker; zine.
Hypothesis 5 is a multimedia installation and performance that explores the screen as a vanishing point between truth and its opposite. Centered around the purported use of a sonic weapon at a protest in Serbia in March 2025, the work uses uncertainty as a framework to explore ‘the crowd’ and the forces that shape its behavior—both physically and virtually. At the core of Hypothesis 5 is the tension between the
de-individualizing force of the crowd and the atomizing function of the algorithm. The work performs the
slippage between these two forces. Hypothesis 5 does not just depict control—but mirrors the subtle,
internalized forms of it, where we are no longer coerced but self-regulate through affect, paranoia, and
performance.
What a wonderful opening!! Thank you all so much for coming to see the show 🎉
There’s still time to catch this incredible collection of moving image works at hARTslane gallery. We’re open today and Thursday from 11am-7pm.
Each work in the exhibition takes a distinct approach to destabilising the image as a vessel of truth, reworking its logic to reveal its plasticity:
layered temporalities are used to fracture narrative expectations, drawing the viewer into a negotiation with incoherence, intuition, and the unknowable; a fragmented performance and installation mirrors how digital systems disassemble and reshape crowd behaviour, blending speculation, documentation, and sonic manipulation to blur the line between control and belief; repetition and absurdity emerge as tactics of critique, exposing the uneasy performance of personal responsibility within vast systems that are difficult to grasp; poetic confrontations between technological vision and natural darkness take place, where illumination becomes a mode of extraction and resistance takes shape in what escapes the scan.
Together, these works deliberately fracture coherence — ambiguity becomes a strategy, foregrounding uncertainty as a critical mode of inquiry.
Excited to announce a group show alongside some very talented artist filmmakers!
No Pattern Against User
hARTslane Gallery
London, Uk
Opening
Tuesday, May 13: 17:00-20:00
Weds - Thurs: 11:00-19:00
No Pattern Against User is an exhibition of moving image works exploring how images can both reveal and obscure truth. Through acts of disruption and reconfiguration, the works interrogate the ways in which contemporary media dissolves fixed referents, forcing us to navigate unstable terrains of perception, narrative, and belief.
Hope to see you there!
