To be a human in an age where humanity seems to be a luxury rather than a necessity. To need love in loneliness and to turn that loneliness and pain into a life that you are proud of.
Nan Goldin has a special talent to strip us of our superfluous successes and plunge us into the brutality of self consumption. I've never been a believer that, we as artists, exist to squander our lives in self depreciation and misery, yet we are unfortunately drawn to instances of deep emotional distance.
To look at your life through a lens, is beautiful. But only each of us truly knows the stories moments don't tell. Strength is in making the rain that falls look like stars in the darkest of skies.
