The goal of my āPeople of Cincinnatiā series has been to capture every day people here in Cincinnati and show their personality through a picture. Itās not always easy asking a stranger to take a picture or a video, and not everyone wants to be vulnerable and be in front of the camera but Iāve met so many great people along the way. This has started me on a journey to do something bigger and become more of a storyteller through my lens, so stay tunedā¦
Simple life in spring time.
I only share a very small fraction of the photos I take here on social media because I think either 1. Theyāre not good enough or 2. They donāt fit my style on social media.
But if I never share them, they may never get seenā¦so I want to start sharing more on here, whether or not I think it will match my usual posts or get any likes.
So hereās some random shots over the past couple of weeks with a mix of both film and digital..
Color hunting at Findlay Market š
Of course Ipicked blue to match my new @apple #MacBookNeo
This is a fun idea to try with your photographer friends. Limiting yourself might actually make you more creative..
What color are you choosing?
You all may know I like to take photos of strangers.. Some people I might just briefly talk to and others I might converse with for a long timeā¦
I met Ralph at the cemetery where my mom was buried. He was visiting his wifeās grave and we spoke for at least 30 minutes. He told me many stories. He told he didnāt make it far in school so he couldnāt read or write very well, but did very well for himself throughout life. His wife was his everything and that itās been very lonely without her.
Something made me gravitate towards him that day, I think we both needed that interaction. My favorite part of photographing strangers is hearing their different stories and capturing them for who they are.
I hope he or his kids make it to the cemetery and get the photo before they clean it up, but I wanted the photo to physically be there with his wife.
Also - Big shout out to @daniel.iroh for developing this roll for me. If you shoot film and are in the Cincinnati area, reach out to him if you need your photos developed!
