Let’s be clear: voluntary travel to the US is not politically neutral.
Fascism doesn't just emerge through elections. It thrives through everyday economic participation and the quiet consent of “normal life.” Leisure travel is part of that machinery. It helps stabilize the system by signaling that repression is compatible with business as usual.
This is not a moral judgment of individuals struggling within the US, many are resisting at enormous personal cost. It's a structural critique. If we understand fascism as a political economy rather than a rhetorical label, then we have to admit that where we devote our money, attention, and presence matters.
Sometimes solidarity looks less like visiting and more like refusing to play along.
