Sometimes parts don’t always fit as they should and it’s not anyone’s fault. Very few people build LSA engines and even fewer keep the piston squirters when they do. I’m one of those guys who believe they’re effective and serve a purpose, so they’re staying in place. The high volume dry sump setup doesn’t care that they’re there, and I believe they do keep the crown of the piston cooler.
However, to make them fit I needed to modify the skirt of the
@wisecopistoninc to give the necessary clearance. On the first build I bent the squirter to give me room, and then I tore it down I found the #7 nozzle in the bottom of the sump. This time I bought all new squirters and went the “mod the piston” route. I gave it plenty of clearance, so I believe we’ll be good this go round.
What’s your opinion on these things?
