I don’t think that final slide is going to get me any graph-making work but you’ll get the gist. I love all these characters so much and I especially love sharing them with you now that the whole series is out!! I find it impossible to play favorites… but who’s yours?? Who do you relate to most? Who do you most want to kiss??? 🩷🩵💛💜
🎭🦸🏼♀️🌴 What a thrill to finally be able to share my next book IN HER SPOTLIGHT, a celebrity/niche lesbian celebrity second-chance romance set backstage during play rehearsals. IN HER SPOTLIGHT is about theatre, Hollywood, superheroes, anti-heroes, and women telling their own stories.
IN HER SPOTLIGHT is the final book in the Out in Hollywood series, and it was genuinely wonderful to close out this chapter in my life with Tess and Rebecca’s story. I love the characters in this book so much — the ones you’ve met before and the ones that are brand new.
There’s plenty of the stuff you’ve come to expect from this series! Lots of food, local LA settings, an extremely cute pet . . . and some familiar faces. It’s also a standalone novel that requires no additional knowledge to pick up and read!
I don’t like to play favorites with my covers but this one might be the best yet?? Tess and Rebecca both look so hot and like such bosses. The purple is SO GOOD. And I love that Tess’s Porsche makes it in there!
I am beyond proud of this book, and I hope you love Tess and Rebecca (and Andy and Aisha and Kathleen and Kevin and Rosie and and and) as much as I do. I can’t wait to share all of them with you! IN HER SPOTLIGHT is out February 24, 2026.
I started taking sewing classes last month and now I’m making my first quilt and trying not to have too many existential crises. Quilting involves many choices.
My friend of nearly three decades @timidfrieda has been working on this musical for years now, and I’ve seen it in many permutations — every which one incredible. Last week I had the amazing opportunity to see this show presented with @jujujuliebee and @bobby_conte in the leading roles and I was blown away like the show was brand new again. I can’t wait to see what’s next for this show and everyone involved, and I am so proud of Christie for pursuing this dream. Creative work, in this economy?? It’s so good to get reminders of how lucky we still are to have art and storytelling.
True story: in 1997 two nerds met on an AOL musical theatre message board. They both had CHESS-related screen names and this felt fated. Otherwise our friendship had been very MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG-coded, as @timidfrieda went on to write musicals and I went on to (briefly) work at Paramount and (less briefly) write novels. Tonight we got to see CHESS together after all these years, only hours after I saw a jaw-droppingly beautiful presentation of Christie’s musical THE FITZGERALDS OF ST. PAUL. Sometimes the internet is actually good. 🤍🖤
Oh hey it’s Independent Bookstore Day and I am SO GRATEFUL for all the stores I’ve shopped at or done events at or just literally every indie shop for existing, especially in (sigh) unprecedented times such as these. 💜📚
Happy Lesbian Visibility Week from me and Out in Hollywood. Sometimes I still can’t believe I got to write these books and create these characters. ❤️🧡🤍🩷💜
In November 2024 I had just completed my first draft of IN HER SPOTLIGHT but felt like I would never get to the next draft without driving Tess Gardner’s ride, a Porsche 911 Carrera (I had to compromise on color). 💚💛 So I enlisted @jessieemilyweinberg and we got a Porsche for a day. Read all about it including how somehow I wore my pants backward all day at my newsletter, linked of course in my bio. To be clear this was one of the greatest days in 2024 (and actually only three days before the absolute worst one!).
The real stars of Out in Hollywood are the pets!! I can’t imagine my life without my pets so it’s practically automatic for me to include animals in fiction. I’m genuinely obsessed with all of these fictional friends. 🐾 Who’s your favorite??
