Mascarade Artist Thando Zwane and Mascarade alum Hovhannes Karapetyan reunited on stage once again, this time in Donizetti’s La Mamma!, which opens tomorrow night at Staatstheater Wiesbaden. After sharing the stage earlier this season in Der Freischütz, it’s a joy to see them together again. Bravi!

We are delighted to welcome baritone Thando Zwane as a new second-year artist of the Mascarade Emerging Artist Programme.
This year, Thando will perform as Lilian in Der Freischütz and as the Regisseur in Donizetti’s La mamma! at Staatstheater Wiesbaden, as well as take on the roles of Polizeikommissar and Notar in Der Rosenkavalier at Theater und Orchester Heidelberg.
A graduate of the Tshwane University of Technology, Thando has already appeared with Cape Town Opera, Latvian National Opera and Ballet, Garsington Opera and Opera Les Azuriales. Awarded the Fleur du Cap Theatre Award (2024/25) for a production with Opera UCT, he continues to build an exciting international career.
