Angelica Ross is a fierce, beautiful, and formidable force. She is best known for her role as Candy in the hit TV show POSE, based on the rise of the ballroom scene born in New York City. Despite her moving on screen role as Candy, off the screen is where she does even more important work. She guides her fans and peers within the queer and trans communities towards a political analysis rooted in radical freedom, love, and justice. She shares her success with those who have been most consistently marginalized and pushed out of society. She reclaims space in every place she has access in order to give the most oppressed among us a voice on a larger stage.
Angelica Ross is an artist, intellectual, and activist in her own right. She was recently appointed as Director of Communications for the Butch Ware @butchware for Governor campaign. She is an extremely valuable advisor for any candidate to have at the table, and all the more important for one of the most viable third party candidates for statewide office in history. Together, the campaign is challenging the corporate-owned duopoly and standing on a platform that centers transformative justice.
In a world where Black trans women are so often spoken about or used as figureheads removed from radical politics, Angelica Ross is a beacon of true leadership. She embodies the kind of Black queer vision, courage, and power that is so needed again in this moment. Angelica, you shine so brightly, and you inspire more people than you know. You are truly a Divine Black Woman.
