@thakzin01 removed one kick drum from a four-four house bar and accidentally created the most argued-about sound in African electronic music. The genre is called 3-Step and the debates about who invented it, who perfected it and who it belongs to have never stopped. But Thakzin has spent years making one thing clear, he was here before 3-Step and he will be here after it. Born in Ivory Park, Gauteng, shaped by sangoma rhythms and a household that treated music as a necessity. 3-Step is just one chapter in a much longer story.
