Hello everyone! I am taking a chance at trying to make it into the running for the @officialpeoplesartist contest that is currently ongoing. Votes decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium’s Salon. Swipe Right 📲 🚨 The White House just released its 2026 Counterterrorism Strategy, and the language should alarm EVERY single person in this country. Not just Democrats. Not just trans people. Not just activists. Everyone. Because once the government uses vague political labels as national security threats, the target can change overnight. The first page ends with this phrase, printed directly above the president’s signature: “We Will Find You and We Will Kill You.” It goes on to list “Violent Left-Wing Extremists” as a major terror threat, using language that is wildly open to interpretation. It targets “radical ideologies,” “anti-American” beliefs, and “radically pro-transgender” ideology. Who gets to decide what that means? ❓ Is protesting anti-American? ❓ Is being openly trans a threat? ❓ Is criticizing the president enough to get flagged? When a government uses politically loaded language in a counterterrorism document, it creates room to label dissent as extremism. Worse, the document focuses on identifying and “neutralizing” people before crimes happen. We don’t just have constitutional rights when our views are popular. The government isn’t supposed to punish people for imagined future crimes or political identity. Yet, there is no serious focus on right-wing extremism here—instead, the aim is squarely at left-wing activists, trans people, and anti-fascists. Even if you think this will only be used against people you dislike, you are missing the point. Government power doesn’t stay pointed in one direction forever. Once you let the state criminalize vague ideology, future administrations can use that same weapon against you. Today it is “radically pro-transgender.” Tomorrow it could be “anti-government.” Next week it could be “religious extremist.” Next year it could be “patriot militia.” The label changes.
