Silver Stream is known for year-round indoor farming, but this crew knows outdoor too. This summer, we're planting our first crops outdoors at 8,000 ft. We're trialing a variety of hardy crops and will expand next year with the ones that love the Wyoming wind, soil, and high elevation.
We're feeling especially grateful to Sublette County Conservation District and Teton Conservation District for partnering together and supporting us on this project. Our harvests feed almost an equal number of customers in both counties. It's a great example of collaboration and we're thrilled to have their support.
You'll see more of Morgan in the coming months as she gets plants in the ground and harvests on your plates.
Earth Day is water day.
Unfortunately, the Upper Snake River headwaters have less of it this spring than any other time in recorded history (just 54 percent of the median.) That means less dilution for our pollution and hotter water for our cold-loving trout.
Simple things you can do to mitigate the impacts on our beloved river:
-Compost food waste to eliminate the use of garbage disposals
-Inspect and pump your septic system
-Pick up pet waste and trash it
-Limit fertilization and switch to slow-release organic fertilizer
-Maintain a buffer of un-manicured landscaping beside water
-Replace lawns with meadow areas of native grasses
We’re very excited to have @tetonconservation supporting EcoFair this year.
Teton Conservation District is a local government entity whose mission is to work with the community in the conservation of natural resources for the health and benefit of people and the environment. They work across the county to address environmental challenges, promote long-term ecosystem sustainability, and steward our community’s natural resources in collaboration with landowners, nonprofits, government agencies, and local businesses.
One of their signature resources? The Mountain Neighbor Handbook: A Local’s Guide to Stewardship in Teton County. This free 52-page guide covers everything from wildlife and habitat to energy and waste—helping residents navigate life in this wild place and become local environmental stewards.
The handbook is available online in English and Spanish at mountainneighbor.org. Be sure to swing by TCD’s booth at EcoFair to pick up a copy!
🌿 We’re excited to announce that a new community garden is taking root in Wilson!
In partnership with Slow Food in the Tetons @tetonslowfood , we’re bringing a new garden to our Wilson Campus, affectionately known as “Mad Dog,” which will feature 46 individual plots and expand the Community Gardens Program by approximately 30 families and residents. A 19% increase from 2025!
This new garden site expands access to growing space and provides a unique opportunity for place-based learning, offering a space for the community to learn, collaborate, and deepen their relationship with the natural world.
We’re thrilled to partner with Slow Food in the Tetons to make this garden a reality and celebrate their leadership in creating programs rooted in good, clean, and fair food for all. 🌱

Along the Snake River, manmade levees serve as flood protection, but the riprap (the piles of large, jagged rocks that make up the levees) create a potential barrier for wildlife migrating or seeking food, water, and shelter. For ungulates like elk, deer, and moose, these rocks are often unsteady and have deep gaps where a leg can easily get caught.
In 2022 and 2023, JHWF, TCD, and other partners worked together to install 24 wildlife ramps extending north and south of the Wilson Bridge. Constructed of soil and smaller rocks, these ramps provide easier wildlife passage across the levees.
In this video, a number of different ungulates are seen using the ramps.

From the early bird to the night owl, everyone’s using the 22-390 crossing structures! 🦌
Join us for #CrossingChronicles over the next couple of weeks to catch glimpses of the diverse wildlife using these structures.
We are honored to have been a part of this work and thank our partners—Wyoming Department of Transportation, Wyoming Game and Fish Department, Teton County, and Teton Conservation District—for making these structures a reality.
Stay tuned for more #CrossingChronicles!
