Ever since Zelda won a signed Tyson Foerster jersey 2 years ago through her ice hockey league, she’s thought that there’s value to getting autographs.
Last night @fcukers__ played Making Time @makingtimeisrad . They’ve been in heavy rotation in our house and Mike and I were both able to attend, a rarity for us. Zelda thought we were just going to a bar, but when we told her that we were going to see Fcukers, she was disappointed to find out about these plans and that she couldn’t go.
Feeling bad that Zelda couldn’t attend and knowing that she would have loved to be dancing with us during their set, I decided to purchase the band’s baby tee. Mike and I were back stage and understanding her feelings about autographs, I mustered the nerve to ask Shanny and Jackson if they would sign the tee.
We gave the tee to Zelda this morning and it looked like this :)
Here’s a photo of her watching Fcukers at Making Time at Fort Mifflin two years ago.
Most mornings Zelda has the time to make her bed and create a scene with her stuffies.
Here are a few of my favorites, in no particular order🥰
Which one(s) are yours?
1. A wedding for Pandy and Tootalua
2. Class photo
3. Waiting in line at a bar for a drink
4. A panda version of Mike reading a story to Zelda
5. A polar bear’s nose sticking out of the water
6. The panda family watching tv
7. Pee Wee teaching Paloma how to dance
8. Paloma and Dickens playing chess
9. Dickens teaching Bam how to fish
During the last 2 weeks of January, I spent that time day in and day out with my mom, brother and sister. The intention of this trip was for my mom to show us the 3 homes/areas where she grew up in Manila and to also visit my dad’s hometown of Luisiana.
It had been almost 29 years since I last visited the Philippines when I was in 8th grade. I’ve previously posted a photo of me in my Nirvana Incesticide t-shirt under a mosquito net in my dad’s home, but nostalgic ol’ me had to take a new photo wearing the same shirt in the same room. What better day to write about this than on Kurt Cobain’s birthday!
This next photo is of my aunt, dad and I from that 1997 visit in their home. It’s the only photo of my dad that survived water damage from a home reno project. I bet I was wearing my navy Adidas track pants, that I still have, with that top!
My aunt is about to turn 93 in March. She’s looking fab as ever! May we all strive for her spritely nature at that age ✨
She rents out part of her property to a friend that sells fruits and vegetables from their daughter’s farm about 15 minutes away. We visited that farm and one of the farmers climbed a coconut tree, kicked down some coconuts and cut them open for us to drink. It doesn’t get any fresher than that!
A little bit up the road from my dad’s home is a little storefront that sells snacks and liquor and if you’re in the know, lambanog. It’s basically a Filipino coconut vodka, often referred to as a Filipino version of moonshine. The glass bottle and funnel came out from under the counter to fill a water bottle that we had to provide. This was equivalent to paying about $.50.
On January 23rd we went to visit the church where my parents got married. It would have been their 57th wedding anniversary. My dad had proposed to my mom that afternoon, was turned down, then his mom cornered my mom and lied to her saying that if she doesn’t say yes that he’s going to move on. My mom then changed her mind and they eloped around 1:30am.
Our last stop was to Boracay. The turquoise water was warm and the sunsets were epic.
There’s so much more to say and share, but these were the highlights 💗
Zelda’s 8U hockey team had an exhausting tournament weekend with 5 games in 3 days. They played their hearts out and were undefeated, winning the championship game, tied at 6-6, but won in the shoot out! I’m so incredibly proud of this team and their resilience, but a huge shout out to their Snider coaches as well for always keeping calm during stressful moments. Here’s a well-deserved victory lap video and some other nail-biting footage with Zelda in net😁
Mike gets a gold star for arranging Zelda’s panda family for her to come home to. 🌟
In anticipation of Spaceballs 2: The Schwartz Awakens, due to be released in 2027, we just couldn’t wait to give life to these characters! Happy Halloween! 🐶
Plop.
Professional lounger.
Self-proclaimed star.
He didn’t ask for fame… he just plopped his way into it.
This is his cover-cat meow-ment for an Urban Outfitters x Camp Snap email that went out on Friday, along with some outtakes from the shoot.
For those of you that can’t get enough of him, I also included some more photos of him over the years from the UO website.

Zelda’s favorite song right now is @thecure - The Lovecats. What better way to honor that than to make it a family effort and for each of us to dress up in the three outfits that Robert is in in that video?
Who knew finding a children’s red button down with black polka dots would be challenging?…so had to hand draw each one. ⚫️⚫️⚫️
On Friday I was looking through my personal high school phone/address book and out fell a Get Up Kids (and Piebald) set list. That led me to go into my vault of photos of bands I took and thought there was enough to make a @thegetupkids appreciation post 💁🏻♀️
First set of photos are from the First Unitarian Church. Maybe @xskagnewx knows what year this was from?
Second set of photos are from Stalag 13. The back of those photos say they were printed in July ‘99. That’s 16 year old me at that show with my friend @laurenwellbank and her broken wrist.
