Most people got our quiz wrong… 👀 If you’ve travelled in the Bale Mountains, you’ve probably seen the Tulu Dimtu sign claiming you’re standing on Ethiopia’s second highest peak. Well… not quite. At 4,377m, Tulu Dimtu is spectacular — but the true second highest peak is Weynobar (Ancua) in the Simien Mountains at around 4,462m. In fact, Ethiopia’s five highest peaks are all in the Simiens: ⛰️ Ras Dashen ⛰️ Weynobar / Ancua ⛰️ Kiddus Yared ⛰️ Buahit ⛰️ Silki Only after these comes Tulu Dimtu. I’ve identified 18 Ethiopian peaks over 4,000m… and so far I’ve climbed just 6 of them. Plenty more mountains still to explore 🇪🇹 📍 Slide locations: 1. Tulu Dimtu — looking north after a storm 2.Innatiye & Emet Gogo — sunrise from Chenek 3.Bale Mountains — above the Harena Forest near Rira 4.Simiens — between Innatiye and Chenek 5. Agame Mountains — Tesfa community trek route 6. Volcanic plugs north of Simien Park — trek to Adi Arkay 7. Mountains at Kundi above Wof Washa forest 8. Volcanic plugs north of Simien Park — trek to Adi Arkay 9. From Ras Dashen — looking north to Ancua 10. Climb from Chenek to Buahit 11. Heading from Gebre Guracha to Mount Batu 12. Map view of Weynobar / Ancua 13. Mark Chapman at Buahit summit 14. The Tulu Dimtu signpost #tesfatours #experiencetherealethiopia #hikingholidays #travelethiopia #ethiopiamountains

23 April — St. George’s Day 🐎 Across the world, St. George is remembered today — and here in Ethiopia, Giyorgis holds a special place in history and faith. 🇪🇹 In Addis Ababa, the church of Giyorgis in Piazza stands as a symbol of victory and gratitude, rebuilt by Emperor Menelik II after the Battle of Adwa (Yekatit 23 / 2 March 1896). In Lalibela, the breathtaking rock-hewn church of Giyorgis remains one of the country’s most iconic and spiritual landmarks. A beautiful coincidence — or perhaps not — that this global celebration falls on the 23rd. The video, filmed in Lalibela celebrating Giyorgis. #TesfaTours #StGeorgesDay #TravelEthiopia #Lalibela #experiencetherealethiopia

Addis Ababa has so much to offer when the sun goes down too🎶 Dive into the city’s vibrant music scene: from the intimate energy of an Azmari Bet, where traditional instruments and storytelling come alive, to the smooth rhythms of Ethio-jazz that fill the night with soul. And if you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the legendary Mulatu Astatke himself 🎷 #tesfatours #experiencetherealethiopia #travelethiopia #addisababa #ethiojazz

As seasons shift, so do traditions 🌍✨ Across cultures and continents, communities are preparing for meaningful periods of reflection and fasting. In Ethiopia, Abey Tsom begins on Monday 16 February - 55 days of devotion in the lead-up to Fasika. In the West, Lent begins with Mardi Gras on Tuesday and Ash Wednesday on 18 February, marking 40 days of reflection. And this week also welcomes the beginning of Ramadan, a sacred month of fasting observed by Muslims around the world. In the days before the fast, Ethiopia is alive with celebration - it’s peak wedding season 💍 and the final weekend is filled with joyful gatherings and generous feasts as families come together to enjoy rich dishes and plenty of meat before the fasting begins. A beautiful time of contrast: celebration and ceremony, followed by reflection and renewal. #TesfaTours #Ethiopia #CulturalJourneys #experiencetherealethiopia #travelwithpurpose
