Introducing our site specific storytelling, “Kayae the Pangolin” at Sembawang Park. This is our 2nd interactive video and puppetry show we have put up this year. We had a good mix of stick puppet and our favorite plushie as puppet, exploring theme friendship and sense of belonging in an ever changing environment.

Mix Media on Cotton
2026
Our cushion art is one of our latest series inspired by our storytelling in bed with our children. A reminder to put away all our devices, no checking emails, no checking of messages or texting or scrolling through social media. As parents we must free ourselves too in this journey of “lesser screen time”.
“Winding down before bedtime also means, we as parents also need to put away our phones and other devices.”
Unlightenment Stage (Sleep Now)

Mix Media on Cotton
These mix-media handmade and woven form of storytelling with soft sculptures are the
latest works by multi-disciplinary duo collective “thefoolishtribe”. They create a series of landscapes with no living things for interaction.
Unlightenment is a set of work that aims to undo today’s influence of social media as well as today’s need for solutions of mental wellness. Parents have to tackle screen time as well as the ever changing needs for children’s education and upbringing which supposedly support parents in raising children. However, it leads to more stress, when the world is
also leaning towards a more technological age.
Unlightenment is an idea of turning away any devices that emits light, taking children into a
physical & whimsical space, exploring colours and textures before bedtime.
Unrevolutionize our need to use any devices, the collective believes in traditional
storytelling and simple methods to connect with the next generation.
We have something new coming up! As part of Fun Intersection by Vertsub, we are collaborating with Lyf from Funan IT Mall, and created a puppet show for the year of the Horse! Presenting “Hosea the Hoseh Horse”, a recently retrenched horse from Singapore Turf Club, in search for his new identity and perhaps a new spark after his retrenchment.
Tickets can be found on Peatix, through the link in our bio. Each ticket entitles a parent-child pair!
Join us as we embark on our first ever puppet show!
*HOSEH! — A Batik Puppetry Experience by The Foolish Tribe*
Step into a whimsical world where fabric, folklore, and puppetry collide.
In this hands-on performance workshop, multidisciplinary duo The Foolish Tribe (E-van & Terry) bring to life Hosea — Singapore’s “fastest horse” whose name, often misheard as Ho Seh (Hokkien for “fantastic”), becomes a playful tale of resilience, reinvention, and staying “hoseh” through life’s unexpected turns.
Children and families will watch a 20-minute live puppetry performance featuring batik-painted characters and a handmade stage inspired by urban Singapore. After the show, participants are invited to create and animate their own hand puppets in a guided mini-workshop, discovering how fabric can transform into expressive creatures through movement, breathing, and imagination.
Perfect for curious hands and big imaginations — no prior art experience needed.
Format: Live puppetry + workshop
Duration: 40 mins (20-min performance + 20-min hands-on puppet making session)
Audience: Children aged 5 and up (one accompanying adult per child)
Tickets: $10 per child
Capacity: 15–20 pax per session
Let your child discover the magic of bringing stories — and puppets — to life.
Our last stretch for our story making. Terry is stubborn when it comes to doing things traditionally. No redo, no backspace, live and breathe every bit of drawing process.

We took a half day trekking trail with our kids to the Hmong and Red Zao Village, passing by padi fields as well as corn and lettuce fields! We were so surprised to find so many households with their very own Indigo dye vats and got to witness first hand the making of a print. The smell of a fresh Indigo vat is something we cannot capture on video - but it is as refreshing as it is medicinal. We could smell it from afar as the mountain breeze blows it our way. What an absolute treat to be on such a learning adventure with our kids!
A big thank you to the Hmong guide(s) who were superhuman in helping with the children as some paths weren’t easy with the slipper rocks! Our main guide was a 40 year old grandmother with three grandkids! 😮

wild flower patterns with paper dip dye is one of our latest series @e.vanyeung has been working on. We have been so familiar with working with geometric shapes. Having to work on something organic takes a lot of trial and error. We finally made it! Inspired by our children who loves plucking this flower as a gift to us. These are among the most common wild flowers you see on our Singapore city/landscape.
