Finally getting around to posting these Growlers photos - I've been really busy since this game...met a lot of interesting ppl from all over the world and as a result of the game I have been asked to be involved in fundraisers that have raised millions of dollars for various charities worldwide π
Playing in one of the best hockey leagues on the planet 2 decades after I retired was an unexpected rush that's unparalleled if for no other reason than the crazy circumstances surrounding it, but the fact my daughter was there & never saw me play pro created a feeling I never thought even possible. A lot of these players are my buddies too, which made it extra special. And to all my pals that came to Mary Brown's Centre that cold Sunday in mid January, (especially the ones from university or the film world that don't really follow hockey but came to see me play) , thank you for your time & support. Love you all β€οΈ
And to my opponent Zach Walker π - thx for accepting the challenge, dropping the gloves and helping create a moment. It was a passionate bout, I got a few smacks in before I was humbly sent back into retirement by a good take down from Zach...I truly gave the game my best effort and i think it was fitting I literaly went out swinging. That's what my 20 year old self would have hoped for on some level. I'm glad my daughter was there to see that. Practice what you preach; not every father gets a chance to show their kids that first hand.
And of course, long live the Newfoundland Growlers, and of course the Toronto Maple Leafs. The first pro team to come to Newfoundland was the St John's Maple Leafs. The last, as of now, the Newfoundland Growlers. I played for both, and in between seemed like I'd lived 1000 lifetimes with such great people. I made some mistakes early in my professional career and having a chance to retire on my own terms was surreal, appreciated and not taken for granted. Not everyone gets that chance and I'm forever grateful. It was my favorite hockey moment, shared by so many loved ones. Who knew...man life is funny....
Keep swingin', you never know what can happen π

Folks, when it comes to competitive sports, there's nothing like the National Hockey League playoffs. I love watching the playoffs, and when I do I like to drink @jpwisers , the official whiskey of the NHL @nhl
Thank you to JP Wiser's for the awesome gift package π₯π
Cheers, and happy hockey playoffs!
Thanks St John's for another successful Hockey Helps the Homeless event. Thx to all volunteers & participants. These fundraisers are important for organizations like Choices for Youth; helping people in need. We've all been in need of help at some point and a little bit of compassion and selflessness goes a long way. It's not so bad meeting some awesome hockey pros too!
See you all again next year βοΈ
