Balanced Power / Terry CEQ + Fairchild 670 clone / EI-30 vs ‘wall power’ - live link on the main website. One track is mostly acoustic, and amazingly recorded. Then, a modern slamming track for sense of stereo, layers, slam and space. Feel free to talk in the comments about your perceptions on both. Email for answers for your blind test.

4x EI-30 Balanced Power transformers for the whole studio getting their final dressing and wiring. For those who haven’t heard, an essential part of any world class studio and mastering room has been privately contracted balanced power. The Terry EI-30 not only cleans up hash naturally, reduces stray fields in equipment, creates a cleaner local ground star, protects from lightning strikes with galvanic isolation, and provides failproof brownout and ‘flicker’ protection. It also makes everything sound better - blacks are blacker, treble detail sounds defined and not hashy, dynamics improved, and noise floor reduced. I’ve written before on other parts on why this particular design really tops the usual lightweight Equitech toroid offerings - there’s a white paper on the main website for those also wanting more info. One is going to a big installation in NJ. Another heads to a national mastering engineer. Plug and play. See my previous posts for how a particular API studio reduced their noise floor considerably installing one. Also, you never grow out of it… it’s the cornerstone investment for a studio that only makes things better. I mean, I was surprised years ago no one offered to the public what the pro’s and electric contractor installers spec for custom builds… 🫖

Altec 604 Upgrade Cabinets. Here’s the story. Some life before this one, I moved and closed this big co-op studio I did in Chicago called Stereophonic. 4 years of tape based recording a stones throw from Electrical Audio. 24’ high ceilings in a 1900’s brick warehouse that only Chicago has and sounds like. I traded a school my Sound Workshop 1280b mixer/sidecar for a quad pair of Urei 811b speakers. Life and monitoring changed. I had somewhat struggled with all these other studios and speakers, and hearing a true coaxial (and ‘time aligned’ nevertheless) monitor made everything easy and make sense. After about 6 months of learning them, I just started to clean up the builds that Urei did. Cables updated and removed from basic spade connectors. Capacitors auditioned and upgraded. Inductors tuned. Measurement mics and analyzers. Crossover modifications by ear and machine. I was fighting against the ‘dead’ chipboard cabinet that Urei made them in. Also, calculations showed the cabinets weren’t the best dimensions. So, I had a local artisan make me one pair… and then adjust, and make a second draft… then another adjustment and a third draft. This is the result. 1” high grade Baltic birch plywood and improved dimensions and bracing. Of course, deluxe crossover parts help a few very small artifacts happen, but the low end translation and speed of the high treble all of a sudden took a somewhat midrange bubble and made the speaker fast and controlled. There is something about working on these Altecs that makes decisions work. They’re not lo-fidelity at all - but they don’t have the all too common razor treble of modern trend monitors. They’re voiced for music, and things EQ and balance wonderful on them. I credit the success of the CEQ and everything everyone likes about Terry Audio based on my ability to hear through my Altec 604’s in my cabinets and crossover assistance. Cabinets are available at reasonable prices for any level of studio and sonic enthusiast. Send an email. Ships anywhere.

0% / Pay Later for any builds is here. More reasons to stay independent here in the US. Jumped through two weeks of intense hoops to land this for everyone who wants good audio. It costs me a little off the top, but it’s alright. Send a message if it gives you any trouble on checkout.

CEQ 2026: I’m embarking on making a small run of these just due to demand from a few very top engineers. So, it seems I can make a few more as well. If you are interested, please email me through the website. I will most likely have to ask for a half down payment to do the build. I don’t think I will be able to make any extras that aren’t pre-ordered, either, mainly due to the front panel production and certain matching of the internal parts this time around. This run will all be Lacquer Black. Lastly, yes, I believe I have sourced a partner to offer some in-house financing for my builds. They should offer 0% ‘pay later’ type of things as well as other rates usually better than credit cards, etc. I should have this figured out in a week or two. If you would like to preorder a CEQ from this run, please send an email and I will get back to you if it happens. I really appreciate all levels of engineers who use and love my designs across the genres. I’ve been working at least a year to try to get these made again. More AEQ’s should be ready by early Summer for all those who emailed and missed out as well.
