In our line of work as masters of ceremony, this is indeed a rare honour. As someone who has paid his dues, spinning in clubs (no not the fancy kind alone, the kind where angry customers hurl beer jugs at you because u didn't play their song) , hosting roadshows from 10am to 10pm while lugging a case of CDs around public transport while completing a law degree. As I look back I'm reminded of a few important learnings.
1. There's talent, and then there's hard work. Never ever think you are owed anything just because you have one or are doing the other. This journey of mine took nearly 20 years.
2. Have a plan and stay the course. It may be hard when most of your friends are off partying or buying new stuff all the time. U have to make a choice.
3. Ground yourself constantly. Surround yourself with people who ground you and lift you up. Remove toxicity as quickly as possible.
4. Find your fun. Something to relax and unwind. The hustle is a long game.

Yes my one grouse if any would be the lack of MJ mixes. But hey maybe a retro themed event next time ? Overall I will say this event was a success in terms of attracting the crowd. The streets were packed with music, culture and food enthusiasts in celebrating world labour day and enjoying a uniquely themed experience.
It was Malaysia’s first Rain Rave Water Music Festival, held over three days at Bukit Bintang last week (30 April to 2 May), drew an estimated 80,000 attendees and generated an estimated RM200 million in economic activity, according to figures published by Top Leader, a Chinese-language media platform that describes its editorial role as highlighting Malaysia’s achievements and recognising government efforts.
