Great review of ITAKA, part of our current duo show, out now at Paragone.no
ITAKA by Terje Abusdal up until 5th of October.
Abusdal’s photography moves between documentary, storytelling, and myth. His images question the reliability of memory and blur the boundary between fact and fiction, showing how narratives of self and community are shaped through acts of remembrance and imagination.
Abusdal’s work has received the Leica Oscar Barnack Award, and Fotogalleriet’s Nordic Dummy Award and Norway’s Most Beautiful Book. He has published three books with Journal (SWE) and one book with Kehrer Verlag (DE).
His work has been exhibited at Bergen Kunsthall, Preus Museum, Buskerud Kunstsenter, Noplace, Musée des Beaux-Arts (Rouen), and Mattatoio di Roma.
The full catalogue can be downloaded directly from our website.

The Blue, The Journey, The Unknown- Group Exhibition shows Terje Abusdals work.
In Hope Blinds Reason series, Terje Abusdal took us through a visual narrative from a series of journeys made in India along the river Ganges, from its source in the Himalayas to its delta in the Bay of Bengal.
It is an attempt to come to terms with one of the most elementary of human experiences, love and loss.
The picture in the exhibition is the opening picture of this body of work, a portal to a tumultuous and exciting journey.

“The Blue, The Journey, The Unknown, Group Exhibition with Marianne Bjørnmyr, Javier Barrios, Terje Abusdal, Yngvild K. Rolland, Jon Gorospe and Mariona Berenger.
About the works:
In the Grid Paintings series, Javier Barrios uses a technique of gradually and meticulously removing paint to create rich, three-dimensional textures that evoke natural forms like cliffs or organic landscapes, or perhaps, these landscapes could remind us of craters from outside spaces. Cosmic bodies and universe phenomena and the way we interact with them through technology have been constant in Barrio’s practice.

Costa Bravo Holiday Paradise (@journalphotobooks , 2024)
"After his wife died in 1977, Tomas moved in with us. Shortly after his arrival, he packed his bags again to go abroad for the first time. All his life he had dreamt of travelling."
'Costa Bravo Holiday Paradise' is a picture-biography made from the travel albums of Norwegian rural farmer and small-scale miner, Tomas Mølland, who at the ripe age of 75 set out to explore the world beyond his village. The story of my maternal grandfather Tomas’ feats is recounted through a mix of text and images, some three decades after his passing.
The book is a standalone sequel to the sold out 'Radius 500 Metres' from 2015, where the photos were taken by my paternal grandfather Åsmund Abusdal.
