「跳格 — 香港國際舞蹈影像節」立足香港、連結亞洲，致力推動跨地域及跨媒介的影像藝術交流。本週末，「跳格」策展人葉奕蕾受邀赴臺南，出席由稻草人現代舞蹈團與臺南市立圖書館新總館舉辦之《翻外之章。閱讀舞影》活動，與當地藝術創作者及策展人展開深度對話。
交流期間，葉奕蕾將憑藉其身兼創作者與策展人的雙重視角，分享「跳格」的策展運作，特別是在舞蹈與電影邊界日益模糊的當下，探討如何透過策展，建構舞蹈影像的多元敘事。
‘Jumping Frames – Hong Kong International Movement-image Festival’, rooted in Hong Kong with a reach across Asia, is dedicated to promoting cross-regional and cross-media exchange in the art of the moving image. This weekend, ‘Jumping Frames’ curator Elysa Wendi has been invited to Tainan to participate in the 'Beyond the Page: A Chapter in Dance Film' event, hosted by the Scarecrow Contemporary Dance Company and Tainan Public Library (New Main Branch), to engage in an in-depth dialogue with local artists and curators.
During the exchange, Elysa will draw upon her dual perspective as both a creator and a curator to share the inner workings of Jumping Frames. Particularly in an era where the boundaries between dance and film are increasingly blurred, she will explore how curation can be used to construct diverse narratives within dance video.

話說，呵呵⋯⋯又來這麼多話說。
這次觀摩TIDF除了有機會放片，還有另一個「變身」任務——來黑膠離線擺攤！謝謝子暄邀請我介紹跳格（Jumping Frames - Hong Kong International Movement-image Festival），也讓我賣書，哈哈。還有謝謝木材幫我做人體書架！
場面真的很神奇。除了很多藝術家、策展人和導演來問津，我竟然賣出了10本《Still Jumping》。太開心了。這本書是我和兩位同事一起編輯的，很不容易——謝謝 @董言 和倩怡。還有出版社@typesetter.publishing
書是為跳格二十周年而編，記錄了影像與舞蹈交匯的二十年，收錄研究文章、圓桌討論和藝術省思。是一本我很珍視的出版。
說到跳格，一直想找機會分享今年TIDF的參展作品——Chiu Sum Yi的「請稍後片刻」/ In A Minute，同時也是2025年跳格競賽學生組的得獎作品。恭喜她！

In 1998, Elysa Wendi performed a solo dance. No archive remains.
The White Faces brings together a live re-enactment of the solo and three films that circle that absence — not to recover what was lost, but to ask what the body holds when documentation fails, and what new forms emerge from the attempt to remember.
Even Our Shadows Look Good Together (WIP, co-directed with Liao Jiekai) moves through past, present, and future as one unbroken breath — an artist's introspective journey through time, ageing, and what the body quietly carries. In Memory of A Dance: Prologue (2021, co-directed with Lee Wai Shing) begins where the archive ends, using fragmented memory as both material and method to reconstruct a dance that exists only in the body. If Forest Remembered (WIP) extends this inquiry outward, weaving a lost personal archive with the extinction of Vietnam's last Javan Rhino in 2020 — where species memory and personal memory share the same silence.
Together, the works trace body memory as a site where autobiography, geography, and loss converge.
A screening, artist sharing, and a participatory re-enactment of the 1998 solo with Elysa Wendi. Prior communication with the artist is required for those wishing to learn the solo dance.

As I Imagine My Body Moving

Much of my life has been lived in-between — languages, cultures, borders, childhood memories that belong to more than one place. This nomadic, diasporic way of being is not something I explain so much as carry with me, and it finds its way into the work.
It is quite meaningful for me to have my film included in Scales of Passage, curated by two institutions I hold in deep respect: Videotage (Hong Kong) and Forum Lenteng (Jakarta).
鱗光映盪 Scales of Passage brings together works from Hong Kong and Southeast Asia — exploring how displacement shapes bodies, memories, and the identities we pass forward.
I am honoured to share the programme with Tintin Wulia, Ivonne Kani, Ho Tzu Nyen, and Weera-it Ittiteerarak.

Tomorrow, Thursday, April 16 at 7pm is a rare chance to watch seven moving-image works developed through 𝗖𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆, an artist-run research and residency initiative for pan-Asian moving-image and performance practices founded in 2015. The screening will be followed by an in-person conversation with 𝗘𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗮 𝗪𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶 and 𝗟𝗶𝗮𝗼 𝗝𝗶𝗲𝗸𝗮𝗶, artists-filmmakers and co-directors of the Cinemovement. We hope you can join us!

USA Tour 2026 part IV: Temporary Exhalations : Selected Works from the Cinemovement Laboratories
Join us at e-flux Screening Room on Thursday, April 16 at 7pm for Temporary Exhalations, a screening and discussion that brings together seven moving-image projects developed through Cinemovement Laboratory from 2015 - 2026.
United not by thematic affinities but by a common gestural affect, each of the seven works presented here holds on to a specter—grief, colonial sediment, inherited bodies, unresolved absences—then releases it through the logic of duration and form. A decade on from their initial making, these works arrive here not as complete(d) objects but as ongoing processes—like the pauses that arise amidst urgencies, like temporary exhalations in breaths held too long.
The screening will be followed by an in-person conversation with Elysa Wendi and Liao Jiekai, artists and co-directors of Cinemovement.
