"Dee was also possessed by a keen curatorial eye, a fortunate combination of astute observation and the workings of an insatiable mind." Brandon Kennedy remembers Dee Mitchell in Patron's February issue

Dee will be missed by many.
An obituary is forthcoming in Sunday’s Dallas Morning News and a memorial is planned for Tuesday, December 2nd at 10am at the DMA.
Dee was my first client. Over the past decade, I catalogued and digitized his collection of more than a thousand works on paper and photographs, including a notable group of conflict images. Together, we identified the works destined for the permanent collections of Dallas Museum of Art and the Museum of Fine Arts Houston.
In recent years, as his health declined and he became housebound, we continued to rotate the collection in his home. He took comfort in pulling deep cuts from storage and living with them on his walls.
His sharp eye was shaped by a robust knowledge of art, film, and literature and his legacy will endure through his generous gifts to public collections.

This project is a special one for us - this collector of works on paper was an early client. Over the past ten years of digitizing his collection, we have learned so much from him about living with art.
Next month, we will coordinate an annual rotation of artworks in the client’s house, which was designed by the late @wommackron .
Artists: Matthew Day Jackson, David Rabinowitch, Rachel Harrison, Richard Tuttle, Doug MacWithey, and David Adamo among many others.

"La Lechusita" is a porcelain owl nesting in a bronze branch and was created by the LA-based artist David Wiseman in 2022. When our clients visited the artist's studio during Frieze LA in 2023, they learned about the entire production process for Wiseman’s screens, furniture, and fine art.
