Countdown to Commencement - 1 week!
Today we are proud to announce that Marvin Samson, CST '60, will serve as the commencement speaker at Temple University School of Pharmacy's May 8 ceremony and will be awarded an honorary degree for his extraordinary contributions to our school, our profession, and our community.
Marvin's story is one of tenacity, perseverance, and dedication. A Philadelphia native who worked his way through Temple night school while holding a full-time job, he went on to co-found and lead numerous pharmaceutical companies, hold five U.S. patents, and become one of the most respected figures in the industry.
As many of you saw in our recent post, Marvin just made a transformational $1 million gift to TUSP, establishing the Marvin Samson Scholars Program. It's a gift that reflects who he is: someone who has never forgotten where he came from or who helped him get there.
"My whole life, personal and business, has been shaped by pharmacists," said Samson. "Providing the means to educate future pharmacists is my way of honoring those who have had a positive impact on me."
The Class of 2026 will be in exceptional hands on May 8. Congratulations in advance to our graduates, and thank you, Marvin, for what we know will be a truly inspiring speech.

A $1 million gift to change the lives of 40 scholars.
Today we are celebrating the launch of the Marvin Samson Scholars Program, established by a transformational $1 million gift from pharmaceutical executive and Temple alumnus Marvin Samson, CST '60.
Thanks to Mr. Samson's generosity, each year for the next four years, 10 incoming PharmD students with demonstrated financial need and a history of leadership and academic excellence will receive a $25,000 scholarship and be named a Samson Scholar. They will also receive a $15,000 scholarship from TUSP for years 2-4, totaling $70,000 toward the cost of their degree.
As we celebrate our 125th anniversary, this gift is a reminder that our greatest strength has always been the people who believe in what we do at TUSP and support our mission.
Thank you, Marvin. For your generosity and for your confidence as we train the next generation of pharmacists.
