Thank you all for coming to the screening of Birth of the Hive Queen and Jason & Shirley Revisited at Spectacle Theater.
I had an insightful and probing conversation with Stephen Winter, Jack Waters, Peter Cramer and Sarah Schulman discussing the race, gender, and class paradigms which besiege the characters of the film.
If you unfortunately missed both screenings do not worry. On Tuesday, May 19th there will be a screening with a Q&A moderated by @judysquirrels at Nitehawk Prospect Park and on Saturday, May 23rd there is an encore screening again at Spectacle.

- Why Tempest's movies always have “hooker brain”
- How Birth of the Hive Queen was inspired by @tourmaliiine 's Salacia and the real lives of historical trans sex workers
- Making an animated short to alienate your transition blogger YouTube audience 😎
- Does trans cinema have any coherent aesthetics beyond “this shit is crazy”??
- What if we stopped having names?
- Getting banned by the Library of Congress?????
- And more!

My most recent short film Birth of the Hive Queen is screening at Spectacle Theater before Jason and Shirley Revisited by the illustrious director Stephen Winter @stephenwintersir
Following the screenings both nights I will be moderating a Q&A with Sarah Schulman, Jack Waters and Stephen Winter about how they concocted this gonzo film re-examining the now infamous Portrait of Jason.
Thank you to the powerhouse programmer, @jurassic_seb who made this all possible.
I would not want you to miss this iconic screening, more info and tickets in bio.
Notes on trans-loving cis filmmakers. I originally wrote this as a part of an Artist’s Statement and decided to expand this into a post with less care for legibility.
CONGRATULATIONS TO @tempestcreation
This film provides a look into the life of Annarchy Artist, an avant-garde drag queen. While preparing for a night of gogo-dancing, Annarchy elucidates the relationship of her performances to her concepts of gender and childhood. The film is an intimate portrait of how performance art serves as both a means of livelihood and a powerful tool for personal expression and identity exploration.
