The last few days have been heavy.
Walking through refugee camps along the Thailand–Myanmar border changes you. Sitting with families who fled violence. Hearing stories from men injured in the war. Listening to leaders and partners trying to hold fragile systems together.
The scale is staggering.
More than 1 million people have been displaced from Myanmar.
Roughly 90,000 Karen refugees remain in camps in Thailand.
Mae La alone is home to tens of thousands.
For years, survival here has included a small but critical food subsidy, about $10 per person, per month supported in part by U.S. contributions. That funding is ending.
When basic support disappears, vulnerability rises quickly.
This is where long-term thinking matters.
At Tekton Career Training we’ve spent years serving refugees in Clarkston, Georgia, helping people move from dependency to dignity through training that leads to employment. We’re now working with partners in Thailand, employers, government leaders, and local organizations, to build practical pathways to jobs as quickly as possible.
Relief matters.
But so does opportunity.
We’re raising $50,000 over the next three months to expand this work in Thailand while continuing in Clarkston and Mexico City.
If you believe injustice anywhere affects all of us, and that dignity comes through meaningful work, we’d love to connect.
Hope is strongest when it’s paired with action.
Hands-On Electrical Wiring Practice! 💡
This week, our students built a mock door jamb from scratch. Cutting, framing, and installing wiring for light switches as part of their facility maintenance training.
From measuring and cutting with a circular saw to running proper wiring configurations, they’re learning the practical skills used every day in apartment maintenance and residential repair.
Through projects like this, students gain more than technical knowledge, they gain confidence working with real tools in real-world scenarios.
Real builds. Real wiring. Real job readiness. Support the movement, and donate today: /191311-tekton-career-training-center
