Early 90โs breakbeat hardcore/jungle label artwork
Just like artwork on outer sleeves of records, centre label artwork can sometimes hold a cultural significance in the sense where they become synonymous to certain movements, sub cultures and (sub) genres.
Take for example the Lucky Spin logo, everyone who knows will immediately associate the lizard from the 60โs Cheech Wizard strip series to the underground UK sound of โ93 and hardcore jungle scene.
Since most releases in this style and era were issued in a generic outer sleeve without artwork meant that the artwork on the centre label had to stand out to leave an impression. Graffiti artists and illustrators were commissioned to create something memorable in a way that feels handmade, in contrast to the stylised graphic design used in other electronic music styles around that time and later in the 90โs (dnb/techstep, techno, trance)
